Vanity: How long till the Dome of the Rock is destroyed?
Opinion | 3/29/2002 | Centurion2000

Now that the gloves have come off and the IDF has pretty much just ground the PA HQ underfoot, does anyone care to speculate about the Dome of the Rock aka Al-Asqa?

Some thoughts on this are twofold.
One, Israel might just decide to strike while the iron is hot (destroy it on general principles IMHO unlikely) or attack the mosque if it is used as a point where palestinian gunmen start opening fire on Jews at the wailing wall.

Two, what better way to totally enrage the Muslim world and enlist help for the Palestinians that if it were to be destroyed by a bomb. The PA could theoretically do this as a tactic to help themselves since they are no match for the IDF when it has the will to crush them.

well its not called Al-Aksa Mount, it's the Temple Mount and a temple has not stood there since Rome destroyed it in 70 AD. So, I would not be surprised at some point that it gets destroyed, I mean sooner or later it will.As to whether this is that time or not, heck, i have no idea.

Right now the sooner the DOME OF THE ROCK is DESTROY the BETTER in terms of Israel.... And I can EASILY see this scum Arafart destroying it in order to get recruits and that FURTHER reinforces my thoughts that the sooner Arafart is offed..... THE BETTER!!!!!

Sharon would probably get better results if, the next time an Israeli gets killed, he'd get on a stepladder and pound a hole in the dome of the rock with a sledge hammer. They could hold raffles for Israeli volunteers. Whoever wins gets to pound the next hole. I don't know what it would do do to stop suicide bombers. But it would sure help Israeli morale.

It won't be Israel that does it. Perhaps an errant scud when Iraq or Iran decides to support their new friend, AraRAT.

I think the Palestinians have shown that they are unworthy of nationhood. Certainly removing the Dome of the Rock would inflame things, but how much more could they be inflamed? When you have a suicide bomber per day, it's not easy to escalate things.

I'd say it's at least ten years out, barring the errant scud.

Now wouldn't that be funny. Iraq develops a newer generation Scud and launches it at Israel. With the famed accuracy of the Scud, it then demolishes the Dome. "Oops"

Reprising the coked-up Apocalypse Now role, or the "insult you to your face" (with Christopher Walken) role in True Romance?

We should take it back and install the Poor Knights of Solomon's Temple there. Let it be a Christian church again.

How long ? How long does it take for a bomb to explode? How long do earthquakes last?

PS -----If God and his wonderful sense of irony has anything to do with it, and it will, the Arabs will remove it themselves as a diplomatic overture to cement their economic dependence/alliance with Israel and to show deep regret for the "era of the PLO problem".
