I remember reading on WORLDNETDAILY a few years back that a group of fundamentalist jews were on their way to the "Mount" to re-lay the cornerstone and begin re-construction of the Temple. SHaron stopped them but, it does illustrate an important point; there are jews waiting for the opportunity to lay hold of that Mount. I say if Arafat goes... the Palestinians will go nuts and the Israelis will be more than justified in taking every piece of land back, including the Mount. (aside from that, no man knows the day or hour...)

It can happen at any time. If some how the Pallies set off a mini-nuke or nerve gas attack in Israel, the Dome of Rock and Al Aksa mosque will be taken out.

The PA doesn’t control access to the Temple Mount. Israeli police and the Jordanian Waqf do, and nether wants to allow something bad to happen to the Dome.

Even without hostile Muslims and US government, the secular Israeli government isn’t going to allow any destruction on the Mount, especially if it would encourage Messianic fervor about a rebuilt Temple.
