Victor Davis Hanson: DEI Cronyism and Woke Grifters
American Greatness ^ | 11 Apr, 2024 | Victor Davis Hanson

Posted on 04/11/2024 5:43:52 AM PDT by MtnClimber

How odd it is that America is wasting billions of dollars hiring DEI czars and electing woke politicians, who so often accuse others of a multitude of sins, largely as a way of enriching themselves.

When ideology replaces meritocracy or provides immunity from the consequences of illegal behavior, systemic mediocrity follows.

Under toxic National Socialism, Stalinism, and Maoism, millions of cronies and grifters mouthed party lines in hopes that their approved ideology would allow them to advance their careers and excuse their lawbreaking.

The same thing has happened with the woke movement and the now-huge Diversity/Equity/Inclusion conglomerate.

Grifters and opportunists mask their selfish agendas under the cloak of neo-Marxist care for the underprivileged or victimized minorities. Meanwhile, they seek to profit illegally as if they were old-fashioned crony capitalists.

During the disastrous COVID-19 lockdown, California governor Gavin Newsom pontificated about leveraging the quarantine to ensure greater equality: “There is opportunity for reimagining a [more] progressive era as it [relates] to capitalism…We see this as an opportunity to reshape the way we do business and how we govern.”

Meanwhile, Newsom did not seem very “progressive” when he was caught in one of California’s most expensive restaurants dining with sidekick lobbyists while violating the very mask and social distancing rules he had mandated for 40 million others.

Newsom also bragged about social equity when he signed a new California law mandating $20 an hour for fast-food workers—while many of his own employees at his various company-controlled eateries made only $16 an hour.

And he allegedly gave a unique exemption from his wage law to one particular bakery/restaurant chain, Panera, whose owner is an old friend and major campaign contributor.

Newsom apparently feels that the more progressively he postures, the less he’ll be called out for his own hypocrisy and self-interested agendas.

VDH gives an excellent summary of neo-marxists in the U.S. doing the same profiteering schemes as ones in other countries. Their ideology doesn’t matter. All that matters is how they use their catch-phrases for grift and cover.

We keep describing the problem, wringing our hands and doing nothing.

I didn't read it either because you are right, what is the point? What are you going to learn that you don't know and what could be done about it anyway?

The wolf is at the door FRiend. The nation is like a besieged city. Out of food, water, ammunition, options, no way of escape, no reinforcements to be seen, out of energy, fight and hope. Making matters worse, the enemy is inside the gates. What else does anyone need to know? What is VDH contributing? Aren't we all aware by now the conditions?

I must confess I have done the same thing a couple times and for the SAME reason. Then, I looked at my 2 kids and my 3 grandchildren’s picture on my desk just to the right of my keyboard and I got my answer. We can’t give up. There is no alternative.

NOTE TO VDH:

THE USPS is supposedly LOSING money in the billions.

YET—they want to spend MILLIONS MORE “UPDATING” sorting facilities.

They want to CLOSE the RENO facilities & build NEW FACILITIES in SACRAMENTO.

APPARENTLY GEOGRAPHY IS another USPS Failing-—

BECAUSE those 2 cities are connected by I-80 & about 70 FEET of snow in any given year.

That route can be closed anywhere from 2 hours to 3 days.

I live SE of Reno-—IF I pay my propane supplier—who lives another 26 mile S of me-—MY check will travel to Reno (NW)-—then to Sacramento (W) -—then back to Reno & then to Yerington. Yerington to Reno is about 75 miles one way. Then—Reno is about 132 miles east of Sacramento—one way—So an approximate ONE way distance of 200 miles ++.

THIS IS BEYOND STUPID.

APPARENTLY the same action will be taken for all VOTING with MAIL IN BALLOTS.

MEANWHILE-—the NOTORIOUS ANNUAL LOSSES of USPS ARE MOUNTING-—AND AMAZON gets rates far below what I must pay.

Reminds me of the OLD Accounting joke:

Company is losing money on every single item made-—

Company owner says—WE WILL MAKE IT UP IN VOLUME.

This becomes a 'race to the bottom'... grift, cover, AND CONTROL...
