A Pitbull would shred a Coyote.

If it could catch one. Yotes are super fast; I swear they have afterburners on them. Plus they can jump on top of and run along pretty high walls--a Pit, not so much.

Pigs are my major issue, but idiots (er, I mean nice people from Dallas) now pay me to let them kill pigs,

Did you previously pay people to kill pigs?

I would pay trappers, yes. Or convince HS kids it was fun.

When we have burns, we will still set up in the back of pickups in a row (with strict 10 and 2 shooting range — no chasing gotaways) and then shoot hundreds as they flee the fire.

Beer may be involved in that, which breaks all kinds of personal rules.

Coyotes are very adaptable, and adapt to the circumstances.

I'm in a suburban area north of Detroit that is highly populated and coyotes are spotted all over wherever there are wooded areas.

I saw one last week in my sub. Same with deer, I placed my trail camera on the back of my deck last night and captured two deer feeding out of my bird feeder.

“Beer may be involved in that, which breaks all kinds of personal rules.” lol. That’s all right my bil belongs to a club called “Guns and Whiskey”. I’ve never been to one of their meetings, but I’d like to go sometime.

Most animals are afraid of humans, but they’re desperate for easy food.
Ex trapper/hunter, here.

I threw a shoe at a pit bull once, he ran away and 5 minutes later he came back with a different shoe attached to a fresh bloody leg.

Oh my ... the drama!!

Temperament varies both within a breed and across breeds. Many breeds are known for higher levels of aggression. Chihuahuas and Dachshunds are known for being ornery, but neither have the bite strength or size to be life threatening. OTOH, Pits, Rotties, Shepherds, and quite a few more have the ability to maim significantly and kill. Golden retrievers have killed. The distinction is that it is incredibly rare for a GR to have the temperament to predispose them to that. That is not the case with the dogs I mentioned. Per capita statistics can show the trends.

Regardless of dog type, it is the responsibility of every owner to properly train their dog based on carful assessment of breed and individual temperament. there will be situations where no amount of training will render a dog safe. If there is no place for the dog to go it will likely need to be destroyed. OTOH, there are far too many owners who don't understand their particular dog's needs. They don't understand them, train them or exercise them. this is when people get hurt.

Bottom line is that there are both bad dogs and bad owners. A pit can be one of the sweetest dogs on earth, but when one that tends toward aggression gets with a lazy and ignorant owner there will be trouble. So you and those on the other end of the continuum should just dig in your heels and have at it.

It all has nothing to do with coyotes.

Lets HEAR from all the pit bull owners, SAY IT!! -—Its not the animals fault, its bad owners fault...

Coyotes bite because they're hungry. Pit Bulls bite because they're pit Bulls.

This is inevitable when you allow them to get habituated. Which is why someone has to hunt and kill coyotes coming anywhere near a human settlement every chance they get, to keep them skittish and cause them to give humans a wide berth.

You understand the mechanism very well.

...and their killing by firearm doesn’t have to be reported to Fish and Game.”

Why not? Seems that would help in keeping track of the population.

Really? i dont hold pitbull owners responsible for a coyote attack. I never said that.

You implied the pit bull owners would or should be along shortly to defend the coyote

Pitbulls are worse than coyotes because coyotes dont have the strength or size of a pit bull.

Maybe. But pit bull are not the topic of the article, coytotes are, and until people start keeping coyotes as pets, they are a different issue.
