Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis Rejects Proposal to Raise Governor’s Salary
Breitbart ^ | 03/01/2024 | HANNAH BLEAU KNUDSEN

Posted on 03/01/2024 1:35:08 PM PST by ChicagoConservative27

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) has rejected a proposal to raise the governor’s salary with a three percent increase in the 2025 budget, asserting that an increase is “appropriate for others given the persistent inflation” but not for the governor’s salary.

“I’ve spoken to legislative leaders and asked that they remove a proposed 3% increase for the Governor’s salary in next year’s budget,” DeSantis said in a statement posted to X.

“While this increase is appropriate for others given the persistent inflation in the US economy, it is best to leave the Governor’s salary as is,” he said, garnering praise from several commenters who commended him for setting the “right example”:

I’ve spoken to legislative leaders and asked that they remove a proposed 3% increase for the Governor’s salary in next year’s budget.

While this increase is appropriate for others given the persistent inflation in the US economy, it is best to leave the Governor’s salary as is.

With inflation it’s realistic for politicians to expect pay increases. These pay increases should be the same amount as Social Insecurity increases.

Pretty easy to do when most your food, housing, transportation, security, are paid for already.
Probably just impacts his retirement pay a tiny bit.

LOL! You people never give up.

Not only do you not want a conservative president, you don't even want conservative governors to advance conservative positions in their own states because they might make Trump look bad.

Sadly I think Ron had the best chance I of smashing Biden.

Like the old Geco commercial it’s so easy even a cave man can get it:

Desantis appeals more directly to the moderates. Cons will vote Trump, commies will vote Biden. Moderates will join commies out of hate for Trump. In the case of Ron they will split and some will stay home but most would have probably voted for Desantis.

“ Polling shows that DeSantis’ core support is from Republicans who identify themselves as “somewhat conservative.” Trump’s base is predominantly among those who consider themselves “very conservative.”

“Sadly I think Ron had the best chance I of smashing Biden.”

If that’s true, it’s only because the press has not seen the need to try destroy him yet. If he were the nominee the press and justice system would do the same thing to him they’re doing to Trump. Any little dirt the press could dig up would be plastered everywhere, the DOJ would be investigating his campaign spending with a microscope, etc., etc.

The Dem media played the Gop like a harp and got the one candidate Biden could beat .
Trump plays the media victim .... The media loved it .
A large enough core group fell for the Ruse
We are heading for 6th loss .Trump gets the dems to the polls .
That is why we have lost every race since 2018.
We will lose the house again and senate .

“If that’s true, it’s only because the press has not seen the need to try destroy him yet”.

It was not necessary for the press to destroy DeSantis. Donald Trump did that job, by unleashing $25M in despicable attack ads, that started airing shortly after DeSantis’ historic re-election in Nov. 2022. Ironically, Trump’s attack ads were from the left! (”DeSantis will destroy Social Security, etc.”)

Sorry, RDS flamed out, showed he's a bad national candidate, can't connect with the conservative base, or even the RINO base. He had all the advantages of his reputation when he started the campaign, yet dropped in the polls every week until he had to pull out of the race. He wasted a lot of time, money, and good will.

It's clear there was no way he was going to beat even the unpopular FJ Biden.

There is nothing in what he did that shows he can run a successful campaign again.
