Desantis stopped this yankee carpet bagger move .This bill would also apply to any other Florida resident(besides Trump) running for president who has been “subject to political discrimination.” Senator Ileana Garcia filed SB 1740, which would create the Defending Freedom Fighters Trust Fund. The bill would provide grants to “qualified persons” to pay for any legal fees for criminal charges “brought by a U.S. public entity.” The money for the fund would come from contributions that can be made when residents apply for a Florida driver’s license.

Trump didn't create the bill. Contributions were voluntary. Qualified recipients would be any resident of Florida running for president who is a victim of a political prosecution by the Deep State, and that incudes DeSantis in '28.
