Russia Points North – "You Will Suffer First of All"

"Russia has never threatened Finland in modern history. We had no reason for confrontation," said Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov, according to the Russian state news agency Tass.

The tone intensified further after Finland announced a few days before Christmas that it was initiating a new defense agreement with the USA, granting the country access to 15 bases on Nordic soil.

Both Sweden and Finland applied for NATO membership last year after Russia initiated a full-scale invasion of Ukraine, fundamentally shaking the security situation in Europe.

Sweden's application is still pending approval, while Finland formally joined the defense alliance as a full member last spring. Consequently, the country transitioned from a neutral state to a "hostile actor," according to the Putin regime, which is now issuing a harsh warning against Sweden's neighboring country.

According to Russia, Finland will not only taste the consequences of joining NATO. The country will also be first in line to suffer if tensions between Russia and the Western world escalate further, warns Russian diplomat Mikhail Ulyanov, as reported by Reuters.

"They have lived in peace and suddenly found themselves between Russia and NATO as a member of that alliance," Ulyanov stated.

"Will Suffer First" Mikhail Ulyanov, serving as the permanent representative of Russia to international organizations in Vienna, adds:

"But since they are our neighbors, if God forbid there is any escalation, they will be the first to suffer."

"A Big Mistake" Russia has repeatedly issued warnings against Finland recently, not only due to NATO membership. The fact that Finland closed its eastern border in November also provoked the Putin regime.

"One cannot send a clearer signal than this. We are now defending Finland together if someone attacks us," said Defense Minister Antti Häkkänen at a press conference.

Russia has never threatened Finland in modern history

Well, I guess it technically it was the Soviet Union, not Russia, that fought a couple wars with Finland and seized a substantial portion of it.

No surprise there!

We put 15 bases on their border, I’d expect a reaction

BREAKING: NEW REVELATIONS RE #BIDEN CORRUPTION IN #UKRAINE

The Biden Family's overseas pay-to-play enterprise has made Biden's the most compromised Presidential administration in US history. Worse, it's directly connected to Washington's disastrous proxy war in Ukraine.

“Fools”

I agree. As if Russia Doesn’t already have their hands full in Ukraine. They’re trying to start a war with Finland. Their aggressive language is also making the case for NATO and Finland to make a first strike against Russia just in case things get that dicey.

Why let Russia make the first move?

Distinction without a difference. Whether the titleof the dictator was/is Tsar or Party Chairman or now "President", it's the same paranoid Muscovy, congenitally unable to get along with others on the playground.

Do not confuse WW 2’s generations with today’s youths. That said, Finland has a pitiful military.

“The Finnish Defense Forces employs a relatively modest 12,000 active troops from a population of 5.5 million. However, it has an estimated 280,000 reservists capable of fighting in wartime.…”

Fools, they will no doubt suffer immensely should a full blown war occur.

The Fins are idiots for not maintaining their neutrality. Wait until the US start stationing short range nukes there and see what happens. They are setting themselves up to be a first strike target in any WW3 scenario.

ICYMI folks this needs to be posted again. The question hasn’t been answered except by threats and ad hominems

Kazan. . . .Kazan. . . . Ding! - the penny finally drops . . . ..Why did it take so long? . . .

Old Tatar city on the lower Volga, Conquered by Ivan the Terrible in 1552.. Establishing a paradigm for Muskovite foreign policy that continues to this day.

So, is that birthplace? Home today? Or just chosen as a tribute to Muskovite imperialism?

FTA: “Russia has never threatened Finland in modern history.”

I guess Russians define “modern history” as the post 1991 years.

I do recall Russia took lots of land from from Ukraine in 2014. No one had attacked Russia. A couple of years ago Russia tried to take over the rest of the Country. But they got kicked backed to the 2014 lines. Since then there have been so many casualties and weapons lost that Russia had to start using weapons from WWII. And now Russia is left being a blowhard with no ability to win or attack other countries successfully.

“I was about to point out WWII. But that was “USSR” not Russia.”

Russia WAS the USSR: EVERYTHING in, with, and about the USSR was controlled by Moscow.

I thought Russia was threatening Santa Clause and the North Pole.

There’s just no evil Russia won’t stoop to under Putin.

First move? What planet are you on??? WE are the bad guys now. And WE are going to reap what WE have sowed.
