He likes the word “fascist”. I thought he was speaking in support of fascism since he’s such a lefty - but no ....
Interesting how wanting free speech and the ability to disagree is called fascism ...
Oh please.
Why don’t people here see?
Anyone who goes on the Bannon show gets excoriated and framed
Now. The topic was you were generous thinking she was smart well she has a doctorate from Oxford
Does an accusation of plagiarism make her not smart?
No
Stay on topic and quit wasting my time
“ I didn’t read the entire article..”
It’s not an article. It’s just a list. Like a list made up by a high school girls
Shares notebook created for voodoo rituals
The gallows was erected by a Leftist.
I noticed that too. They point to that silly miniature gallows as the image of Ultimate Right-Wing Evil. I guess they were trying to end the piece on a heavy note but it comes off more like the Stonehenge scene in Spinal Tap.
LOL! Funniest scene in the movie.
The Left ruthlessly enforces friend/enemy distinction.
These former leftists supported the Enemy on just one issue, and that was enough to get them expelled from the Friend Coalition.
And as you point out, the Friend Coalition and Enemy Coalition is constantly changing.
Fifteen years ago no-one demanded that everyone believe that men wearing dresses were “really” men. Now, refusing to pretend that they are gets one expelled from the Friend Coalition.
Same with Israel. In order to remain in the Left Friend Coalition they have to support Hamas against Israel.
Message: Don’t break from the herd.
This is a time when ideologies are being reformed and boundary lines are shifting, and they don’t want to be a part of it.
I wouldn’t say that Christopher Hitchens turned right. He threw in with the neocons because he thought that their wars would advance left-wing goals. He never joined the “religious nationalists” and carried on a war with them until the end.
Taibbi and Greenwald focus on the big lies of the age. Whether they’ll move back left or find a new home on the right I don’t know, but the notion that we shouldn’t challenge those lies and the powers behind them, isn’t worth much.
Blumenthal hates Israel, the US, and NATO. He hasn’t changed or moved right. In a sense, leftists who embrace the Ukraine War have.
That isn’t just on the left.
If you said on this site that you didn’t agree with the patriot act, or the Iraq war, you were banned. Now it’s the complete opposite. Just two examples.
Before my time. I lurked periodically before then.
And yet, it happened.
Groupthink isn’t a phenomenon of only the left.
Bingo. FreeRepublic is just as susceptible to group think and group shaming as the left. Try criticizing Trump and see what happens....
Also, Bill Buckley et al. managed to cancel and ban Sam Francis, Joe Sobran, Peter Brimelow, and Buchanan, for positions that everyone except the GOPe now accepts.
lol. I’m aware.
You mean the one the capital police allowed to be set up to discredit Trump? Yea that one, and who by the way set it up so you could it in an article years later?
That’s what makes fascism so scary when it genuinely flares. It consumes. It grows.
Fascism has flared and consumed your sole, you have become that which you feared and embraced it. Now tattle off and and join your Jew hating, Jew murdering Hamas friends and tell us all about fascism.
Another narcissist. How nice that you’re powerless.

I think the author’s definition of left and “right” is not the same as say, Rush Limbaugh’s. They are thinking of “right” on the old faulty leftwing linear scale that was made by the left with theci tent of putting some imaginary distance between communism and fascism, when in fact these philosophies are both authoritarian, two sides of the same coin. Now, as in the 30s, these sibling movements seem hostile to each other because the must compete aggressively in recruiting from the same pool of revolutionary malcontents and anarchists, while neither is able to recruit from the same pool of people as constitutionalists. But when fighting our third group, they are mostly of one accord, with hardly any daylight between them.
The socialist “right” they know is as far from the American Right a/k/a the colorblind constitutional conservatism of the Reagan/Limbaugh years as one can get- it is so wholly alien, otherworldly, and incomprehensible to them that they don’t even have a word for it in their vocabulary.
