Several injuries have been reported in an explosion at a plant operated by Archer Daniels Midland in Decatur, Illinois, NBC affiliate WAND-TV reported.
In a statement, the company said an explosion occurred at approximately 7:11 p.m. on Sunday inside the East Plant within ADM's Decatur processing complex. Several employees were injured and transported to the hospital for treatment, the statement added.
Headquartered in downtown Chicago, ADM is an agricultural origination and processing company, and on its website describes itself as a "leader in both human and animal nutrition."
As of late Sunday, the company had yet to determine a cause of the explosion.

Good thing I’m not a conspiracy theorist
Or I’d have to threaten to report Nully to the mods
Another coincidence for the list...
I have a theory that the insistence on hiring on D.I.E. principles rather than knowledge and experience means that certain maintenance practices are ignored.
For instance, if the former and now retired manager insisted that machinery be swept around two times per shift, but the new (and inexperienced) manager ignores those practices and sees no reason to do it, dust builds up with can cause a fire from a simple spark. If frayed wires were inspected monthly in the past, but the new manager says once a year is sufficient then problems are missed and machinery can short out causing a fire. If you multiple those types of failed inspection decisions by the dozens you increase the chances of a fire or explosion by quite a bit.
It’s a bit of the “for want of a nail” type scenario that causes cascading problems.
Lotsa weird stuff
“... if the former and now retired manager insisted that machinery be swept around two times per shift, but the new (and inexperienced) manager ignores those practices and sees no reason to do it, dust builds up with can cause a fire from a simple spark. It’s worse than that.
The bigger problem in my view is that “spreadsheet man” calculates the cost of those inspections and compares to some underestimate of the probability of fire and the damage.
Usually by the time that the fire occurs, “spreadsheet man” has got a big bonus for “cost savings”, and has been promoted. The new diversity hires are in charge, and we don’t want to blame sainted minorities so the investigation declares that no-one could have known.
Rinse and repeat this risk behaviour in every area in every company... and you get the competency crisis.
I don’t like the idea my sister works at one.
At this point, I think it’s more than dirty floors.
// certain maintenance practices are ignored. //
True, which feeds into the planned chaos (âItâs a feature, not a flawâ) and disruption of food chains, etc.
We have seen this cause and (desired) effect before. The hanging chad (pl, sim chaff) in FL 2000 election were (among other causes) thought due to the Votomatic equipment in Palm Beach County not being regularly and adequately cleaned and maintained. This meant the glorified hole puncher could not cut through ballots (âYou had ONE job to doâŚâ) because of the chad build up beneath in the receptacles.

Sabotage, lighting a match in unswept debris, on top of this. Planned deliberate disruptions => any and all contributors welcome.
I obviously donât know what happened here, but isnât this about the 25th outfit, having to do with food production, thatâs been partially or totally destroyed? Whatâs that old saying, once is happenstance, twice is coincidence, 3 times, is enemy action. Is this enemy action? I didnât know.

I have a friend who worked at a grain elevator in Decatur-Arkansas! He said that you’ll see a “flash” when the grain dust first ignites, THEN the large explosion when the dust lying around on beams and such is stirred into the atmosphere.
One such “flash” occurred while he was there, but due to the cleanliness of the plant, no larger explosion resulted. But, one of his co-workers was situated about fourteen feet above their level, and immediately after the flash, the employee was standing right beside them. When they asked him how he got there, he replied, “I looked up and I saw God, and he said ‘Jump, m***********r, JUMP!’”
deliberate, starve the animals we feed on
LOL
True story, too!
