The U.S. State Department has issued a fresh travel warning advising Americans against heading to China over selective enforcement of local laws and the "risk of wrongful detentions."
The warning comes nearly two months after China sentenced a 78-year-old U.S. citizen to life in prison over spying charges.
"The People’s Republic of China (PRC) government arbitrarily enforces local laws, including issuing exit bans on U.S. citizens and citizens of other countries, without fair and transparent process under the law," the State Department says.

Plenty of Americans working in China...
My irony detector is going off for some reason.
I went to Shanghai and Zhangjiagang in early 2001 for ten days on a business trip.
I’m glad I did, because I have no intention of ever going back. I would have liked to have seen the Great Wall and Beijing, but not that badly. It’s not worth it.
The same DNC state department that said BLM? And that black peiple here are wrongly imprisoned?
Wotta load…
I wonder why they have not warned Americans to stay the hell out of Washington DC for the same reason.
France is A-OK though!
This warning would not include Taiwan
Thanks to whoever captain obvious is at the U.S. State Department......what’s the next travel warning gonna be.....dint carry hash oil into russia? 😏
I’d visit Peking before Washington DC.
Guess where Janet Yellen is traveling to this week?
Yep. China!
Wrongful detentions? Like going to the US capitol building?
Less chance of wrongful detentions in chicom land than in DC...
HA....the fed or should I say FERAL gov. has been wrongfully detaining American citizens and prosecuting on false half truths...F the feral gov.
Did you have to squat when using public toilets ...the ole’ hole in the planks latrine?....Eat any dog?
Tell me, Biden (you pathetic being), what are you doing about the thousands of Chinese entering the country illegally?
No. Have you been to Shanghai? 😏
I even managed to avoid using those holes in the floor while working the better part of nine years in the Middle East.
Eat any dog?
No, but it was on the menu at a few of the restaurants we went to, as were other disgusting things. Our Chinese counterparts (fellow employees of the global, U.S.-headquartered corporation we worked for) told us with straight faces that they understood westerners couldn’t eat things like that because our digestive systems weren’t used to it.
LOL - my longtime BFF from our high school days arrived in Paris yesterday. She said it’s quiet where she is - not far from Luxembourg Station. She hasn’t ventured out to any other parts of town, though.
I just got back from Shanghai two weeks ago, had a great time, customs was a breeze.
Gee how nice of the pan faced persons to be so enlightened of your emotion’s .....spare me the $ diatribes as American cities die and dog eating / plank squatters try to entice your trade .....they have NO SENSE of allegiance at any level. You are blind...
