Biden admin takes aim at hunters in latest regulation: 'Preventing Americans from hunting'
Fox news ^ | 6/22/23 | Thomas Catenacci

The Biden administration announced Thursday that it is moving ahead with prohibitions on the type of equipment hunters are allowed to use on federal refuges, a move strongly opposed by sportsmen groups.

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) released its 2023-2024 hunting and fishing rule — an annual plan laying out regulations for the upcoming hunting season — banning cost-effective lead ammunition and fishing tackle across eight national wildlife refuges by 2026. Such an action has been supported by eco groups, but opposed by hunters, who argue that it could serve as a backdoor attack on hunting broadly.

"This is the latest example of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service creating rules that punish hunters, threaten conservation funding and advance special interests without sound scientific evidence that traditional lead ammunition cause is causing detrimental wildlife population impacts," said Lawrence Keane, the senior vice president of the National Shooting Sports Foundation.

In 2021, the Center for Biological Diversity — an influential environmental group with assets exceeding $40 million that advocates for stringent federal wildlife protections — sued the federal government over a Trump administration rule expanding hunting and fishing on 2.3 million acres across 147 wildlife refuges and national fish hatcheries.

Instead of defending the rule, the Biden administration asked the court to delay proceedings in the case in February 2022, and in November it agreed to a settlement with the group that stipulated the government would take wide-ranging steps to protect wildlife "harmed by expanded hunting and fishing" on national wildlife refuges.

Democrats often use the "sue and settle" tactic in order to impose rules that both the government and the environmental groups want anyway. To both it is a "win-win".

The 2nd Amendment isn't about hunting. It's not even about personal protection. It's about ordinary Americans being able to defend themselves against all enemies...foreign and domestic.

It is VERY apparent that Sloe Joe, The Hoe and the ENTIRE Democrat Party (RINOs, also!) are at war with We the People.

The list of their offenses against America and We the People is extensive, and I’ll not repeat it, but We the People really do need to figure out a way to stop the predation on our American Way of Life!

I wish I had a good solution to ending the 24/7 attack on America by these EVIL people!

Any ideas, FReepers?

Lead shot is cheap at less than $0.30/round. Non/lead (bismuth/steel/others are much more expensive at over $5/round.

I’ll bet they hear from the anti- lead side by a ratio of at least 3:1. And most of them probably don’t hunt or fish.

Good for him! I did not vote for the bastard. But reading the Ukraine threads I learned that he has Legions of vocal admirers and worshipers. So maybe the People will get what they voted for. I did not.

History shows us that the French used a guillotine to rid the government of the corrupt politicians and employees of the government. Unfortunately this is currently the only solution I can see right now to reverse the sickening trend that our country is heading. The current administration, the DOJ, the FBI, the IRS, the Dept of the Interior, EPA, Homeland Security, the ATF, Dept of Education, and DOE have all become corrupt. Even our military has been subverted into a social experiment which makes us extremely vulnerable to foreign attacks.

In July 1863 several hundred thousand rounds of lead ammunition were expended during the Battle of Gettysburg. Most of this ammunition has lain buried on the battlefield for well over 100 years. Lead contamination of the ground water has been a concern there for a long time and it was expected to be significant.

In 1986 (123 years after the battle) the National Park Service tested wells writhing the battlefield park. Their testing revealed the following …..” No concentration of the toxic trace elements arsenic, barium, cadmium, chromium, lead, selenium, or mercury exceeds the maximum contaminant levels (MCLs)”

Bottom line is that even on a site where hundreds of thousands of rounds of deteriorating lead ammunition have been buried widespread across woods and farmland for over 123 years, there was no significant lead contamination of the ground water.

This is the latest example of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service creating rules...

They're not "creating rules."

Unelected hirlings are making laws out of whole cloth.
