Your Coming Summer of Blackouts
WSJ ^

Posted on 05/27/2023 8:24:27 AM PDT by Brilliant

How many warnings does it take before the Biden Administration wakes up to the risks from its climate policies to the U.S. electric grid? The latest came this month from the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC), and please pray the wind keeps blowing.

NERC’s summer reliability assessment forecasts that no less than two-thirds of the U.S., including most everyone living west of the Mississippi River, could experience power outages. Texas and most of the Midwest should have enough power to meet demand—assuming they don’t experience any sizzling hot and still summer days.

Texas last summer narrowly averted a power outage by leaning on businesses to curtail operations. The state has since added enough solar to power about 200,000 homes. But demand has grown by even more, and the sun doesn’t shine at night. NERC forecasts a 19% probability of a grid emergency at 8 p.m…

One new variable this summer is the Environmental Protection Agency’s recently finalized Good Neighbor Plan, which requires fossil-fuel power plants in 22 states to reduce NOx emissions. NERC predicts power plants will comply by limiting hours of operation but warns they may need regulatory waivers in the event of a power crunch.

The EPA claimed the rule wouldn’t jeopardize grid reliability, but then why would power plants need waivers to prevent blackouts? The Fifth Circuit of Court of Appeals this month stayed the rule in Texas, Louisiana and Mississippi. But it continues to be a wild card in determining whether the lights stay on in the Midwest and West.

Another growing concern is glitchy solar plant inverters, which convert DC to AC power. These have caused solar plants in California and Texas to experience concurrent outages when there has been a problem somewhere else on the grid. Solar plants have “exhibited systemic performance issues…”

biden’s team doesn’t care. They want misery. That’ll have them promising to fix the problem if only we pay double for energy and hand over what remaining freedoms we have.

I yearn for days of American industrial might when power was abundant, soot was in the air, the glare of steel mills could be seen at night. Oh, I wish for the days when you could wake in the morning and the air hung low with the smell of sweet coal from stoves and furnaces. There was a time when Americans built substantial things without government interference. Men were men. Women were women. Family meant everything. How low have we gone, now a nation run by faggots, lesbian and trans freaks with their delusions and perversions, unable to keep the lights on for an irrational fear the world will end. Eff’n pussies make me sick.

It’s amusing how there are, even now, ‘respected’ contributors to the WSJ who actually think the Biden admin is just clueless and ill-informed. Let me tell you folks in the editorial board some news, it’s all on purpose, orchestrated, choreographed and paid for. You are the idiots for not knowing you’re being conned, or traitors for going along with it.

“Texas and most of the Midwest should have enough power to meet demand—assuming they don’t experience any sizzling hot and still summer days.”

I am sure the chances of Texas having any hot sizzling summer days is quite low.

This year’s heat will kill us if we don’t do something about Glo-Bull Warming! The news media say so!

It is almost June and I have not had to start up my AC units at all so far! just using window fans.

Yet back in 1972, during THE COMING ICE AGE scam, it was so hot in April we were having records broken all over the place. It was 102 degrees on April 12! I remember it well.

Look at these April temps for Tulsa OK where I lived at that time.

the article said “risks from its climate policies to the U.S. electric grid?”

You say RISK I say OPPORTUNITY ... I am about to release my new line of RECYLED power for households...
home heat...
lights ...
even entertainment ...

Imagine the thrill of enjoying the soft light of burning tire rubber as you spend “quality” time in the outhouse.

Gather the family around the warm and comforting glow of the flaming tire in the backyard.

Share squirrels roasted over the smokey glow of a goodyear.

yup .... I can see it now ... I knew that pile of tires out in the back would pay off.
... and my wife said I was crazy ... HA HA (that's the last laugh)

You summarized it perfectly.

They KNOW this green wet dream is an impossibility and that it will lead to widespread blackouts and misery. This is just another tool in their bag to destroy the USA.

Too bad Abbott is a bit of a squish who went along with the solar/wind fairy tale.

“Men were men. Women were women. Family meant everything.”

I just drove 1,300 miles from the San Fran Bay Area to North Idaho via Reno, NV; Winnemuca, NV; Boise, ID; Ketchum, ID; Stanley, ID; Salmon, ID; Darby MT; Hamilton, MT; and Missoula, MT.

It is still as you describe in the West. The town of Jordan Valley, OR was getting ready for their annual big rodeo last weekend and there were thousands of good, hard-working, God-fearing people there. The ranches are huge and filled with cattle. Farmers are growing Timothy hay everywhere to feed all of the animals. The land is still fertile, the rains fall and the sun shines.

We stayed with a wonderful family on their ranch. The ranchers are in their late 60s and have four kids and sixteen grandkids.

The old America is still alive, but there is no doubt it has shrunk from what it used to be.

1972? I spent the hottest months of that year outdoors at Ft. Sill Oklahoma burning myself handling or sitting on the 155 guns, and water too hot in the canteens to drink.

You're right. Biden's wringing as much misery as he can out of the American people. It's intentional - no one's this vile and stupid by accident.

In 1974 and 1975 I worked as a firefighter for the Vale District of the BLM, mostly between Jordan Valley and McDermitt. I really like the area. Wonder if the Telleria family still runs the Jordan Valley store after so many years.

I’m waiting for temperatures to stop going down to the 30’s and 40’s overnight. Then I might worry about blackouts.
