Report: Mitch McConnell Backs Kevin McCarthy’s Hand Ahead of Debt Summit Next Week
Breitbart ^ | 05/05/2023 | Jordan Dixon-Hamilton

Republican Senate Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) backed House Speaker Kevin McCarthy’s support for ”substantive” budget cuts days before he is set to meet with President Joe Biden and other congressional leaders to negotiate on debt ceiling legislation.

The Hill reported that McConnell signed onto a letter sent to Democrat Senate Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), led by Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT), that calls for “structural budget reform” in debt ceiling negotiations and opposes Democrats’ proposal for a “clean” bill that only raises the debt ceiling.

Yeah, until he undercuts the House, like Bob Dole did.

The Senate does not like that the House has the power of the purse, and work to undermine it at every turn.

I think McCarthy is on the right track with work requirements for SNAP and Medicaid, insistence on student loan payback, and rollback of the latest expansion (IRA) of handouts.

If Republicans hold firm, the Democrats will be forced to fold - Republican voters are far more financially skilled and prepared than Democratic voters.

Buchanan is in the car business big time and probably won’t strongly support anything that might raise interest rates even a smidgen.

I know of no Republican more wobbly on the issue of the debt limit.

How often when the shoe is on the other foot do we get a “clean bill” on the debt ceiling?

McCarthy would be very wise to not turn his back on McConnell.

If Republicans hold firm, the Democrats will be forced to fold - Republican voters are far more financially skilled and prepared than Democratic voters.

As long as McConnell is in control of the GOP in the Senate, and the Democrat press (including FOX) continue to report their lies, the pubbies will fold like a cheap suit when it gets to crunch time. Time and again, the GOP lets the socialists off the hook.

McConnell and the 17 other RINOs in the Senate already undercut the House when those turds passed that Omnibus Bill right before Christmas last year. It essentially took away any meaningful budget legislation from the House for this current fiscal year.

So McConnell screwed the House by working with the RATS to pass a budget during the lame duck season that screwed us and now he wants us to believe he is actually taking the RATS to task and has our best interest at heart. 🐂💩 Must be an election on the horizon. And the GOP nuisance callers want to know why I left the party and refuse to give them any money.

Why do I get the feeling that we’ve already lost this one. When the Turtle makes a move like this, you know that he has already set up the fix to help the democrats.

“Yeah, until he undercuts the House,...”

McConnell undercut the House by cooperating in passing a budget and 1.7 trillion dollar spending bill last December after the election but before the new Congress was seated in January. I don’t trust him to do the right thing now but will be pleased to be proven wrong.
