NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A self-defense claim is under investigation in Nashville after a pregnant woman was shot in a Walgreens parking lot on the city’s east side, forcing doctors to perform an emergency cesarean section and deliver her premature baby.
The shooting took place around 8 p.m. Wednesday on the city’s east side.
Police said an employee at the Walgreens location was notified by another employee that two women were stealing items from the store. The employee told police he saw the women putting items into a store cart and a large over-the-shoulder bag. He said he then began recording the women with his cellphone and followed them as they left the store without paying for the items.

Pretty sure petit theft is not covered as a forcible felony under most state statutes. This employee is likely in trouble. Definitely unemployed.
What about spraying somebody with Mace?

I lived in TN for ~13 years. Two or three in Nashville.
Its not "alleged" if you are on tape shoplifting.
Let me guess. Amish? And why were the shoplifters alleged shoplifters, but the employee not an alleged shooter?
Personally I think they both should have been shot, but that’s just me and my old fashioned dislike of thieves. Every time a thief steals some thing they steal that part of your life that you spent earning the money to buy whatever it was they stole.
I wouldn’t be shooting any women in this situation.
Mace is non-lethal......assault charge probably.

I’m pretty sure they tell employees to give up the cash, keep smiling, and don’t shoot thieves.
If it was a store owner, I’d be sympathetic.
If an employee was threatened with a weapon, I’d be on his side.
Shooting someone who, basically, is disrespecting you or pissing you off is not going to end well.
Given the general attitude on shoplifting lately I tend to believe the employee.
While shooting her was likely excessive this wouldn’t happen at all if the authorities went back to frowning on shoplifting. The thought of people leaving with armloads of merchandise without paying while others stand at the register is highly offensive to most normal people.

Theft does not usually result in death or close to it. What about getting the license plate? Video her taking off and give to police.
Probably for two reasons: (1) Nashville is a Demonicrat town; (2) Self-defense against a chemical attack is no longer legal in the eyes of the Demonicrats.
Well, then, Nashville needs to follow California’s example and allow up to $950 worth of merchandise to be shoplifted before anyone will do anything about it.
That solves the problem: Walgreens will simply start shuttering stores in Nashville as they have 17 Walgreens in San Francisco.
How dare these two women think they can steal without being a politician!
