Lawmakers push for higher pay for federal employees

WASHINGTON (NEXSTAR) – Lawmakers are pushing for higher pay for federal and dc government employees.

“The government workers must have 8.7%,” Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.) said.

Tuesday, Booker joined other lawmakers and activists to demand better pay for federal employees across the country.

“When we are united we are strong,” Booker said.

Together they are backing the Fair Act, to give federal employees an 8.7% pay increase.

“We’ve got to stop calling, by the way what I just did, which is a pay increase, which it is not. It’s fair pay,” Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick (R-Penn.) said.

Fitzpatrick is one of the few Republicans supporting this bill, and he says this legislation would restore years of lost wage increases for federal employees.

“That shouldn’t be a hard issue for anybody to get behind,” Fitzpatrick said.

I don’t see a problem with this proposal, but first we eliminate Taxpayer Funded Health Care for non military Federal Employee’s and let them finally enjoy the Benefits of the Finest Health Care program on the Planet, Obamacare. Require ALL Non Military Federal Employee’s to enroll so they can get the care they deserve.

Pay scales for every job code and pay rates for every public employee should be public information. I’m not getting eight percent anywhere except inflation.

Is this from the bee?

They are so under paid that three of the highest per capita income counties surround the DC swamp.

With lawmakers, the way to control inflation is to raise salaries and make prices go even higher.

Dumb is as dumb does.

Government workers haven’t exactly shown themselves to be the best and the brightest, deserving of a pay raise. This sounds more like a vote buying tactic to me. Democrats caused the inflation and now they want to give their government unions a pay raise to make up for increased cost of living.

Federal workers make a hell of a lot more money than most Americans as it is, and they do a fraction of the work that those other Americans. And, they have “gold plan” benefits on top of their excessive pay.

Give every one of them an 8.7% pay increase in exchange for them giving up their generous healthcare and pension plans and they can all go on Obamacare.

See if they accept that. Oh, and from 2024 onward, all raises will be predicated on performance metrics.
