Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) announced what has been described as the “largest tax relief proposal” in the Sunshine State’s history, which includes permanent sales tax relief on baby and toddler necessities, gas stoves, and more.

Speaking in Marion County, DeSantis briefly highlighted the state of affairs economically in Florida, noting that the state has one of the lowest per capita tax burdens in the country and no income tax while promising to “keep it that way.”

There are 27 states pushing tax cuts, not just Florida. Some states are going much further than Florida.

That’s a great idea, until you realize you are paying federal taxes but not receiving Federal money. I’m not against but the argument is strong.

Some states are going much further than Florida.

Good! Let's see them compete on the basis of reducing the size, scope, power, and cost of government. Returning to We the People control over our own lives, families, finances, and retirement is a good thing.

Quite a few states are working to eliminate their state income tax and other taxes.

Florida along Washington State, Nevada, Wyoming, S. Dakota, Texas have never had a state income tax. However, higher state sales taxes and property taxes can negate the beneficial effects of not having a state income tax.

One can predict AI will replace many government functions allowing for drastically lower state taxes in the future. This AI benefit can come as soon as this decade.

Absolutely.

AI can help in this.

The fluffers will come out!

I really want DeSantis to stay on the sidelines for this one for Trump’s sake. But DeSantis needs to be preserved for the future, Trump can’t be allowed to destroy him for his own ego.

AI is, inevitably, a product of its training. Who controls what is used to train the program?

This may become *the* key question in the next decade.

The Miami Independent is on it!:

On Tuesday morning, DeSantis convened a roundtable in Miami focusing on what his office called “the damaging impacts of defamation from the legacy media.” Seated among the conservative panelists was Elizabeth “Libby” Locke, an attorney who has taken up litigation on behalf of clients like Sarah Palin and the James O’Keefe group Project Veritas against The New York Times, wrote The Daily Beast.

DeSantis said Locke was “an extraordinaire when it comes to First Amendment defamation.” What he didn’t say is that Locke is now representing Dominion Voting Systems, which is currently suing key Trumpworld figures—like Rudy Giuliani and MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell—for pushing bogus claims that the company’s technology somehow stole the 2020 election from Trump.

MAGA commentators also chimed in.

“DeSantis being in cahoots with a Dominion lawyer has outraged the people of the United States,” he continued. “DeSantis lost any chance of running,” Lindell added before calling the Florida governor to “endorse Donald Trump right now,” added The Daily Beast.

Others, such as ardently pro-Trump lawyer Joseph D. McBride—who represents Jan. 6 riot defendants—told The Daily Beast in a phone interview that DeSantis “destroyed” himself by welcoming a Dominion lawyer.

That’s the idea.

For example, renewing a diverr’s license can be handled by AI allowing clerks who retire to not have to be replaced.

I tend to lean towards preserving jobs while eliminating them through attrition. No sense in wrecking someone’s work life if they’ve performed to expectations.
