Blue states saw the largest population declines in 2022, while red states topped the list with the most population growth, United States Census Bureau figures reveal.
This year, California saw more than 343,000 residents leave the state — more than any other in the nation — followed by nearly 300,000 residents who left New York, and almost 142,000 residents who fled Illinois.

I have no issue with this as long as they don’t bring their liberal politics with them !
But somehow the census bureau, for the purpose of apportioning seats in the house, can’t seem to ‘count’ these decreases in the commie states and increases in the American states; suffering from ‘mistakes’ and ‘unexpected errors’ that can only be fixed in the next census, somehow.
I’ve heard good things about Kentucky from a friend who moved there from Oregon.
1000 people a day have been doing this for going on 20yrs.
For a long time the leftists wiped this away as retirees.
Now we have several surveys from moving companies that say:
economic opportunity
jobs
retirement
Every now and then Krugman is confronted with this and ofc he always responds with something stupid. The last time, he cited the advent of air conditioning. :D
I wish they would stay the heck home... Many of those “fleeing” the insanity, taxes, and policies of the blue states... move to our “Red” areas - and bring their entitlement-minded, nanny-state (and all the associated blue state stupid) with them.
They buy a piece of land 100 yards from a large commercial chicken farm, build a big house, then complain non-stop because of the smell... They then demand schools spend more money on their kids, demand new gun laws be passed, complain about people hunting, complain about everything...
Just like Californians moving to Oregon they will create new hells.

CA and NY each lost a seat as did MI, OH, WV, IL, and PA.

Reminds me of the carpetbagger on the train to Birmingham. In the same car was a sweet young belle and a former Confederate officer. The carpetbagger approached the belle and made what she took to be an obscene proposition to her. She got up in a huff, and approached the officer. “That Yankee offered me ten dollars if I would sleep with him!”, she declared. The officer gallantly responded by drawing his revolver and shooting the Yankee dead. He then holstered his weapon, and looked around the car, saying, “Let that be a lesson to any other carpetbagging Yankees who think they are going to come down here and double the price ah everything!”
Dunno about that. I’m a big DeSantis supporter from Maryland living in Florida, and my neighbor down the street is from New York, and equally passionate about DeSantis and Trump.
I don’t mind California refugees except the ones that continue to vote for the same socialist crap that ruined their own state.
There are always exceptions, but in general, they are liberals tired of eating their own dog food.
I’m starting a new job soon. While it will initially start off in Maryland, I’ll eventually be back in Florida teleworking. When I get back down here, I’m going to go fishing with a friend who lives nearby. I figure it’s a useful skill to pick up in case SHTF.

I don’t see why so many of my fellow “Damned Yankees” have such a problem down here. There’s a nice statue of a confederate soldier in a park in downtown Pensacola. He’s part of the local history. While I’m pro-Union, I’m sure he served his side with honor, and he even went on to serve in Congress, according to the plaque. I guess nobody used Amendment 14, Section 3 against him. It’s not like the statue is going to run around biting people.
The way I look at the Civil War — that is, the War Between The States, more accurately — is, we were all Americans. We were just squared off against each other for a while over slavery and economic issues. I’m glad my side, the side two of my great-great-great uncles served, won, but still, we were all Americans. Peace to all of us.
