I have met many fellow former Californians who moved to (rural) Texas as we did, and almost every single person was a conservative who could no longer tolerate the progressive madness there. I suspect, based only on my anecdotal experience, that many CA refugees - those that are actually US citizens - are here for the same reason.
Unfortunately the booming tech sector here is attracting hundreds of thousands of non-citizen, progressive H-1B Indians and Chinese, and woke millennials who can’t afford to live in blue states, to the metropolitan centers. They are malignant cells in a cancer that seems to be spreading with no chance of a cure. I won’t go anywhere near Austin, San Antonio, or DFW unless it’s absolutely necessary because I see those places becoming just like LA and the Bay Area, which I hate with red hot burning passion.
I have had 10 Californians tell me all about moving here. 8 were masked this summer. Now suddenly TN has rolling blackouts. Our vote on important state amendments was blue, 100 percent.
My husband doesn’t want to move to FL because When Desantis leaves, it will be back to its former can’t even count the votes.
The country we have allowed ourselves to become is shocking.
Heck, a Republican prez lead us with mail in ballots, masking, travel restrictions, bumpstock bans and everyone is really excited about a leader who would give kushner n Fauci the reins.
I have held on to optimism for far too long. It can’t be saved.
