Looking ahead to 2024, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and the Republican Party should take their cues from former President Ronald Reagan.
After Republicans’ disappointing midterm performance, a showdown between DeSantis and former President Donald Trump seems certain. Trump has already begun taking shots at DeSantis, calling for him to disavow a 2024 run as a sign of “loyalty” and to “wait his turn.”
But what good would that do for the conservative movement? Indeed, any true MAGA faithful should welcome and support a trial by fire from other rising stars of the Right. It’s the best way to ensure that whichever candidate emerges victorious is truly the strongest to take on the Democratic nominee. If challenging a former president of the United States, who is still undoubtedly the leader of the GOP, seems a show of bad faith, consider that Reagan once challenged a sitting Republican president, Gerald Ford, in the GOP primary.
Just as Reagan made clear at the time, and Trump himself demonstrated in 2016, Republicans don’t have to anoint our leaders on the basis of whose “turn it is.” Rather, we remember the nauseating entitlement of Hillary Clinton’s “Because It’s Her Turn” campaign slogan when Democratic Party bosses recycled her for another run in 2016 after she’d imploded as the party’s torchbearer and lost to newcomer Barack Obama in 2008.

desantis aint running 24’. He just won re-election and Never Trumpers already got a hard on thinking he’s going to abandon FL for America. America ain’t Florida.
Reagan signed off on an amnesty for millions of illegal’s. Trump would never do that.
This time around Trump needs to show up at rallies with a 757 full of ballots.

Likewise it is not just “anybody but Trump’s” turn like the GOP establishment are pushing either. Like they always like to condiscendingily say,”this is not a coronation”, this is

I am not sure why people think the Republican Party “belongs” to him? And people think there should be a civil war in the party.
To that, I suggest secession from the GOP. You guys go out and form a MAGA party. Sure, the FR Trump crowd will run out with him. A majority of Republicans and Conservative Independents will stay put.
Let’s see how that works.

Real conservatives will let the GriftPublicans fight it out with the Democrats - their 40% to the 40% of the Democrats.

Oh, hey, Trumpo, I know you suffered a near mortal political wound for all of our sakes in 2020, but don’t mind me as I try to exploit the voter base you created with your bare hands, as if you had ***actually *** died politically, instead of doing so only in my own personal fantasy world.
Ron has said nothing about running nor has he hinted at it (as far as I know). Trump should lay off the attacks until Ron actually runs , which he probably won’t anyways. I’d like to see Trump say something about how the Florida election laws should be the national standard though.
For those who are not aware, both DeSantis and Youngkin have been in talks with the McConnell, McCarthy and Paul Ryan wing of the bush league chamber of commerce worshipping republiCAN’Ts about running against Trump.
This is why he is calling them out.
If these two had any morals, they would come clean and call out what the bush league chamber of commerce worshipping republiCAN’Ts are planning.
Alas, they are not.
That makes them both part of the problem, not part of the solution.

I wish Trump would take Reagan’s advice on the 11th commandment. It’s too early to be in 2024 primary mode. Trump needs to quit taking the bait that the Dims dangle in front of him.
Let’s have a primary and decide! ...he should be vetted by the people. A primary sharpens the eventual winner while testing all the candidates. Trump has to answer some tough questions. What has he learned from his mistakes? Will he screw up personnel again? Does he intend to subject America to years more of Trump drama, and what makes him think voters want that again? What, exactly, is his plan to win key states like Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Michigan in 2024 (It’s a fair question to ask DeSantis and any other aspirants too)? Here’s the thing – I do not see a clear path for Trump to get to 270 electoral votes in the general as of today, though that can change quickly, so that’s the big question he and every other candidate has got to answer because we cannot afford another term of these communist bastards wrecking our country.
