I’ll never forget in 1990 I was at a Los Angeles Denny’s getting out my car. I was approached by a 18 year old DEADHEAD asking for money. I talked to him for a couple minutes and he told me the for the last year he had been following the Grateful Dead around the country. His only source of money was begging. I felt sorry for him and then gave him $10. He didn’t even smell like weed like I expected! ;-)

I thought Phil Spector invented the “Wall of Sound”.

We had a ton of bamboo in our neighborhood. Various diameters. Made dozens of bongs. We all did. I wonder if any of them have survived

He was let out years ago . . .

“What a strange trip it’s been...”
I see you missed a word there. For Jerry, the ‘trip’ wasn’t that long. A human body can only take so much abuse.

The Child’s Garden of GrassThen there is the "Der Der" made from the cardboard tube inside of a paper towel roll. It's called a Der Der because when little kids get one of those tubes, they put it up to their mouth and say into it Der Der Der Der...

"That looks like your typical Meerschaum Pipe. It’s more heat resistant than briar, with less risk of burnout."
Nope, look at the little crack at the point of the bottom of the bowl. It's a piece of an antler, deer or elk. Meerschaum doesn't crack. Antler does when it drys out.

And the stem is antler as well, just covered with leather.

I take that back about the stem, it’s wood. Took a closer look. And drilling a hole in a curved antler would be quite a trick. Knocking the pith out of a curved piece of tree branch that has a large pith would be fairly easy.

A friend once told me that the most disgusting things on earth are the Port-A-Potties at a Grateful Dead concert.

No it doesn't. If your teen is building something like this you will have some trouble ahead. Typical Rolling Stone BS writer trying to sound cool. This pipe is quite interesting.
To: Flint
Huh, I never knew then center was called pith. As kids we called it tree marrow ~ as in like bone marrow.
