Most Americans think former President Trump should testify before the House select committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, riot at the Capitol, new polling shows.
A Monmouth University poll released Wednesday found that six in 10 Americans think Trump should comply with the committee’s recent subpoena calling him to appear before the panel.
At its ninth public hearing last week, the Jan. 6 committee voted unanimously to subpoena Trump as it prepares to issue its final report before the end of the year.
Eighty-nine percent of Democrats and 61 percent of independents polled think Trump should have to testify, while 67 percent of Republicans think he should not have to comply with the subpoena.

Thanks. A lot depends on who they polled. Given that Trump himself wants to testify I am not surprised by the poll results.
All of this may be moot if the pubs win the House. But who knows what the RINOs would do.

Yeah. It’s a bad idea. They will twist what he says or trick him into saying something rash. It’s a bad idea.
Hasn’t someone from his staff already come out and stated that he would, as long as it was public and on live TV?
They drop the subpoena and he tells the world: Gladly...live, in an open forum with as many cameras that can fit in the room.
Subpoena will be withdrawn.
Can you provide an instance where they’ve been able to trick him into saying something rash or twist what he has said?
Given that almost everything he says can be described as rash, how many times did he say something, the Left went into seizures and within a few days or weeks he was proven to be 100% right.
There’s no way for them to twist something live. Of course the media pundits will pass out talking about the ‘dog whistles’ and ‘what he really meant to say was blah blah blah’, but none of that will stick.

Congressional “testimony” is NEVER on the terms of the person appearing before a committee unless your name is Hillary.
Each member of this partisan exercise will have a tailor made speech that will use all but 30 seconds of their “time” in which Trump will repeatedly have to answer “when did you stop beating Melania?”
He should not give this committee any credibility because it is NOT a bi-partisan committee and it was set up in violation of the house rules.
A written response will suffice and let them go back to their theater.
