For years, reducing value and service while increasing cost.
Works every time, right?
I’m sure the postal service has increased costs of doing business, in part due to the price of gas going up so much.
As I understand it, the postal service is an independent organization, and not part of the federal government as such.
Which means, they are needing to balance their own budget, as an independent business entity.
i don’t get as much junk mail..or so it seems...now email...that’s another story
But, but, I remember being told that inflation is only rising by ‘an inch’ and that it is ‘transitory’.
In before the I-remember-two-cent-stamps crowd.
How about pay cuts across the border? Why not lay some lazy asses off first? Postal employees are union scum. Get a real job in the private sector.
You betcha.
One of the post office vehicles in my town went up in smoke while out delivering mail, all of which also went up in smoke.
Stupid ICE vehicles - if only everthing were EV's, life would be so much better, Greta's tears would dry and Yawn Kerry could focus his attention on Iran.
The rate hikes are happening because the USPS today is nothing more than a cushy government job with a fat retirement pension exclusively for black women.
I avoid paying for stamps as much as I can. I used to mail things all the time.
Newman!…
The price of a ship anything box has doubled in the last five years.
I hardly ever mail anything anymore. USPS is dead to me. It is just another big, bloated, ineffective, useless gooberment entity.
A kid from Southwest Power Administration tried to tell me he worked for a “company”. I said, “BS, you work for an agency of the Department of Energy. Are you that embarrassed to work for the gooberment? If you are why do you do it? There are plenty of other jobs to be had?”j
His answer, “They don’t pay as well, have as good benefits and retirement and you have to work a lot harder.”
At least he was honest.
This gooberment is FAILED. It is time for it to disappar because almost anything that replaces it can be better.
Load up on forever stamps before January.
They already increased my box rent this summer, along with rate hikes. IIRC, another rate hike is due in time to affect Christmas mailings.
Too much is never enough!
What inflation?

I have an elderly friend who is unable to get out much. She lives in town. Her mail is delivered to the mailbox on her porch. Too many times, the deliverer failed to pick up her paid bills just because she didn’t have any mail for him to deliver. The paid bills often sit in the box for days.
Actually when the first US stamps were issued in 1847 it cost 5 cents to mail a letter 500 miles or less, anything over 500 miles was 10 cents. That is equal to $1.81 or $3.62 in todays dollars. In the case of the post office you are actually getting a service that costs far less than it did 175 years ago.
Public service unions a gift from JFK.
