An NBC News segment highlighting the “ghost gun” market in the U.S. has earned a response from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Activists have been claiming the network may have broken the very laws they were trying to expose as too lenient.
The March 17 report covered so-called “ghost gun” kits that offer firearm parts which can be built into guns, which don’t have serial numbers. The controversial part of the segment came when NBC News reporter Vaughn Hillyard bought a “ghost gun” kit outside of his home state and then gave it to others to build into a full firearm.

It's OK, the Anti Freedom Taskforce will determine that Nothing But Communists was just sucking AFT's member.
I remember the news media violating gun laws for the past fifty three years just to prove it could be done and then call for tougher gun laws.
Ghost guns.... heh.
I think the genie is out of the bottle.... and he ain’t never going back in.
MARCH? MARCH?? The DEMOCRATS would have people in jail by NOW!
Too bad...nbc employees would like jail...
The Delusional Lying Left pretends to be against violence when in fact they promote chaos, destruction, and death - anything to accomplish their Worldwide Totalitarian Government.
I’ll bet that nothing happens. Liberal reporters are in the protected class.
It is fairly well known that the buyer must complete the build him or herself.
About as far as the “investigation” into NBC’s Davey Gregory’s possession of a 20-rnd magazine did, in 2013: nowhere.
At what point does a chunk of metal become a “firearm”?
I’m not positive, but I think it’s right after you drill the first hole in the trigger well!
Boo. I'm scared.
That's called sarcasm for the slow people.
Another interesting question I read about is when does a solvent trap gun cleaner become a supressor?
Apparently right after you put a dimple in the end of it, allowing for easily drilling the end cap in the right spot.
Sure - ATF will eventually drop the investigation, due to limited manpower and higher priorities, like cleaning up their office coffee machines to prevent the spread of potentially deadly viruses...

Well Stated. Absolutely True.
"Journalists are Special People with special rights, one of those being the right to break the law in order to show how easy it is to break the law." That'd be my bet.
"Ghost guns" are media hobgoblins, nothing more. It's already illegal to manufacture a firearm and transfer it to someone else (without a manufacturer's license). It's perfectly legal to drill holes in aluminum so long as you don't do the former. Requiring a serial number be placed on every hunk of aluminum bar stock because it's a certain arbitrary percentage toward forming it into a firearm is stupid and futile.
Wonder why so much of the Right doesn’t seem to get that.
Ghost guns ???
if they mean a PCR-80 lower receiver, it isn’t even a gun. It requires finishing.
Remember a few years ago when some New York TV ‘journalist’ illegally acquired some ‘high capacity’ magazines, and was brandishing them on TV? After a bit of consternation from some ATF wonks, as far as I know, nothing was done.
Not to defend MSN but I can’t figure out what federal law they broke. Can anyone enlighten me?
