He is of course absolutely correct. Pence is a weak and pathetic excuse for a man. His backing down on the Religous Liberty issue when he was governor was a clue to this fact.

Pence explained he didn't have constitutional authority for such a move. Pence shouldn't have to "explain" such a thing for it to be known - it is simple reality for anyone who bothers to read the Constitution. The Vice President has absolutely no role or authority to make such a move. Those who keep saying otherwise are ignorant at best. Even if he did, a simple "I appeal the ruling of the chair" puts a quick end to that. It's a fake fantasy people wanted to believe existed and somehow could stop the inevitable coming inauguration of Biden...and Pence becomes the scapegoat for this fantasy world not materializing rather than merely accepting it was just that - a fake fantasy.
That said, the relationship between these two men has soured (to say the least) and him being a running mate would not be workable. With Trump not being up for re-election after this second term, he should pick someone possibly ready to run in 4 years, and Pence would not fit that bill.

Trump makes his residence NY and there is not an issue.
I doubt DeSantis will take the vp spot. Pretty sure he wants to stay as governor until his term is up.
