Could DeSantis Beat Trump?
National Review ^ | January 21, 2022 | RICH LOWRY

Posted on 01/21/2022 10:18:30 AM PST by conservative98

The past and current master of the GOP sees a future threat arising.

[cut]

“It was a mistake to ever embrace Donald Trump, and now we want to be the party of Adam Kinzinger.”

[cut]

Would DeSantis be audacious enough to run against Trump in 2024? The case against waiting is that it’s extremely unlikely that the governor can maintain his exalted status in the party until 2028.

On the other hand, the case against running in 2024 is that it involves the enormous risk of encountering the business end of the Trump buzz saw, which could change DeSantis’s image in the party forever.

No. It would end his career if he tried.

Lotsa noise out of this guy Lowry’s mouth/word processor lately. Doesn’t make him less of a never-Trumper idiot.

Not right now. Possible in 2 years that could be different.

NOW???... No.

But as the truth about the vaccines continues to come out, ANYONE who was anti-vax will be able to.

Could DeSantis beat Trump? If he has the same help that Creepy Joe had, sure. I mean, with that kind of “help”, even Kamala could “beat” Trump.

The Deep State tries to gin up trouble between Trump and DeSantis. I don’t buy it.

I support Trump.
I support DeSantis.

If DeSantis seems to want to cause trouble for Trump then I probably wouldn’t support DeSantis. But we’re not there yet, so I’m not anti-DeSantis. I’m sure New Republic is disappointed.

Lowry once again proves he is not on our side. He displays his lack of dignity and honor by shilling for the anti-American plutocrats.

I know Trump has lots of energy but it would be nice to have someone under 60. Enough of these geriatrics, time for the Baby Boomers to go away.

Could DeSantis Beat Trump?

Depends on how much of a crossover vote there is in the primaries.

Could DeSantis Beat Trump?

I hope so. Ron DeSantis is better than Donald Trump in every measure.

If Trump endorsed him.

Stop this nonsense.

Not supporting any Republican that goes against Trump, that does not explicitly denounce the steal.

There is one viable option.

Unless you want Republicans to massively lose.

let’s not forget DJT prevailed in a primary field of 16 candidates. Half of them had less than zero chance (Graham, Pataki, Huntsman....). So he ran against and beat 8.

I think 4 of them would have beat him 1 on 1.

I think 1 on 1 against DeSantis I think DJT loses and it wouldn’t even be close.

Perhaps DeSantis will sit out the 2024 primaries. Trump is in a position where he may not draw strong opposition in the primaries for the GOP nomination.

Stupid question.

DeSantis is running for Governor of Florida this year.

A lot of people seem to be forgetting that.

Looks like Free Republic is in love with DeSantis. Just like Free Republic was in love with Ted Cruz in '16 primary.

MAGA!!! Trump or nothing....
