Elon Musk: 'I Will Pay the Most Taxes of Any American In History'

Obnoxious, but likely correct.

Tesla CEO and paper billionaire Elon Musk on Tuesday shot back at comments from Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), telling the Democratic Senator to "stop projecting" and calling her "Senator Karen" for criticizing Musk for not paying enough in taxes.

Following Musk's crowning by Time Magazine as Person of the Year on Monday, Warren took to Twitter to weigh in on the billionaire wealth debate and hers and others' perspective that those who make the most don't pay their fair share of taxes.

"Let's change the rigged tax code so The Person of the Year will actually pay taxes and stop freeloading off everyone else," Warren said.

Stop projecting!" Musk fired back, also telling the Massachusetts senator, "You remind me of when I was a kid and my friend's angry Mom would just randomly yell at everyone for no reason."

"Please don't call the manager on me, Senator Karen."

Musk continued to shoot back at the Democrat senator, tweeting that beyond being named person of the year he'll also take the top prize for highest American taxpayer.

"And if you opened your eyes for 2 seconds, you would realize I will pay more taxes than any American in history this year," continued Musk. "Don't spend it all at once … oh wait you did already."

Musk has feuded with other progressive politicians in the past, including both Sens. Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) and Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) last month.

Wyden criticized Musk on Twitter after the billionaire tweeted out a poll in early November asking if he should sell 10% of his Tesla stock, drawing a crude response from Musk.

I’d respect him a lot more if he didn’t take money from taxpayers that he didn’t need, and clearly he is in a postion to not need subsidies anymore.

Which two large corporations do you run? And who told you that taking advantage of legal funding is unnecessary for them - do you have access to their books to make that judgement? Or are you just fashionably spouting hate?

Rodger. But now days, the sort of person you name has gotten off the couch and is looting high-end stores and selling the proceeds. Progress, right?

I thought I was pretty clear in all my multiple postings on this thread. Ad nauseum.

I don’t blame him primarily. I blame those who enable it. See my post at #30, which is fully consistent with my other posts.

Perhaps you didn’t read them, which is understandable in this type of online discussion. It happens to me often enough.

He put everything he had into space x

It could’ve broken him but I think now it’s supposed most valuable asset people will pay a lot of money to place communication in space

No. I do believe there are SOME things we should subsidize if they cannot commercially be viable, for national security reasons.

And even in the case of SpaceX, that may be true. And we MUST have a viable agriculture sector which I would also visualize in a national security sense. Could that subsidization be done more intelligently? Absolutely.

No, I am not against ALL subsidization.

But I don’t believe in subsidizing electric cars or renewable energy except in a strictly conceptual sense in a limited way when starting out. I might make an exception for that to assist in getting over some initial research and development hurdles.

What we are doing now with subsidies in both electric vehicles and renewable energy is NOT that. Those subsidies are going directly into someone’s pockets, like Solyndra did.

Actually Tesla does NOT get any subsidies on EV cars sold anymore. Haven't for about 2 years.
Those EV subsidies apply to first 200,000 EV'S sold and Tesla has long exceeded that number.
And Dementia Joe's new subsidies are only for car companies with unions like GM, Ford etc. Tesla has no unions.

Exactly. In the case of things like renewable energy and electric cars, I would view government subsidies the same way I, as a chemist, would view an enzyme or a catalyst in a chemical reaction.

There is a threshold that cannot be reached, and an enzyme or catalyst can artificially propel it over that threshold.

This if for things that I see as outside what I would see as a National Security interest.

>>Actually Tesla does NOT get any subsidies ...

Yea, I know, but he has other companies - Starlink/spaceX in particular where he has already applied - and will get - another $Billion +/- for rolling out internet, not to mention solarcity for solar credits etc.

They guy is brilliant, but to really like him I want him to be the guy that says ‘no thanks’ to any help from the government - just doesn’t sit well for an average guy like me to have to give money to the richest guy on the planet to do what he probably was going to do anyway.

I don’t care if it ends up being a good investment - he is rich enough to not need it, and would win a lot more supporters (and reduce a lot of criticism) if he would keep his hands out of the public’s pocket..

>> do you have access to their books to make that judgement?

He just sold about $15B in Tesla stock, and yet is applying to get another $1B courtesy of the US taxpayers to help fund his starlink project - yea, I know he doesn’t need my tax money.

If you can’t figure that out, you are not very bright.

Musk fanbois, are among the most pathetic people you will ever meet.

US tax policy is truly racist.

As the world's richest person, the US is clearly targeting the African-American Elon Musk for excess taxation, on the basis of his race.
