While the unemployment rate for Americans dropped in August, there is a political time bomb buried in the statistics for President Joe Biden and a Democratic Party increasingly focused on equity: black joblessness shot up significantly.
In other words, the president who fondly boasts of a domestic policy promising to leave nobody behind has an economic recovery that is leaving a key Democratic constituency in worse shape.
"The rise in black unemployment in August is certainly troubling, considering their unemployment rates were already much higher than any other group," Elise Gould, a senior economist at the Economic Policy Institute, said on Twitter.
Adding to the complications is the fact that before the pandemic, African-Americans enjoyed historic economic gains under President Trump, including record-low unemployment and falling poverty.
Steve Moore, an economist who advised Trump, said the trend lines for blacks under Biden were ominous, especially after all the COVID-19 relief that was distributed.
“It doesn't matter how much free money Biden passes out to people. There can be no black economic progress in households with no one working,” he said.
Overall, the U.S. jobless rate in August fell from 5.4% to 5.2%. But for blacks, it rose from 8.2% to 8.8%, a 7% spike in a single month.
To put that number in perspective, black joblessness had reached an all-time low of 5.4% in the report that came out in November 2019, just before the pandemic.
Two other categories of workers also saw unemployment worsen in August: teen-agers and those without a full college degree.

They still voted for Biden. You mean they will all of a sudden a leopard change their spots? So fewer show up at the polls. That’s our best hope.
People in the cities run by democrats know the elections are fixed..why bother voting..

Not troubling for democrats. They want it this way. Trump dared to take them off the plantation. Dems want them back, and dependent, and poor, and with no hope for the future.
Exactly. Most blacks are still on the Democrat plantation and still listen to their corrupt leaders.
It’s kinda funny seeing the pundits and journalists tie themselves into knots trying to think of creative ways to present this absolute disaster. I mean, they can’t just say, “Hell, what an absolute disaster this is! Haha, I hope me and my family can stay alive over the next few years, ya know? Let’s talk prepping!” or they’ll lose their jobs. :D
That’s exactly the problem. People simply are not going to go back to work if they’re forced to get the vaccine and/or wear masks. Plus, the mask is a sign of servitude since , udging by the DC party hearty types, only the plebs have to wear them.
The government wants to keep the savage control they’ve gotten, so they’re not going to loosen up.
The only positive aspect is that the underground economy is probably growing by leaps and bounds.
Under Trump black unemployment went down significantly. I’m sure they’ve noticed the difference.
All you have to do is tell blacks that someone didn’t support a hate crime for dragging somebody with a chain somewhere and you’ll see that angry look as they vote against Republicans and for the democrats who took their jobs away and worse.
Democrats play them like a fiddle and they act like fiddles.
I have heard Trump got over 20% of black men’s votes. Among black women, they were almost unanimous for Biden. But it’s with black men that Trump made some headway.
If any Republican could get 30% of the black vote, would Democrats ever win another presidential election?
Good points. I would add that George Floyds’ death was just one of several ‘racial incidents’ that were part of an organized media distortion campaign commanded by the DNC. They’d attempted this in every election campaign since Reagan in an increasingly desparate effort to keep black Americans voting for democrats.

Another problem regarding black youth unemployment is that they smoke a lot of weed. Takes away their desire to work, and they can’t pass a drug test if a job requires one. Legalizing of weed is another project of the enlightened white upper class that has very negatively impacted the lower classes.
Real economic gains don’t help. The Democrats speak the language of victimization and that gets the votes.
Biden’s next spin: everyone who wants a job has one. Zero unemployment achieved!
