Dumbing Down Our Kids of Color
Townhall.com ^ | August 14, 2021 | Michael Reagan

The left is truly dumbing down America’s kids.

It’s nothing new.

But based on the insane education policy recently implemented by the state of Oregon, it looks like the future of America’s already awful public school system is getting worse.

Last month, as the media just learned, Oregon’s Gov. Kate Brown quietly signed a bill that dropped the requirement that high schoolers had to prove they were proficient in reading, writing and math before they graduated.

The bill’s supporters claim that considering math and reading as essential skills all these years has been, you guessed it, unfair to kids of color who do not test well.

They claim the new bill was written “to truly reflect what every student needs to thrive in the 21st century.”

And they say that it will specifically help the state’s “Black, Latino, Latinx, Indigenous, Asian, Pacific Islander, Tribal, and students of color.”

Only in our upside-down and dumb world of woke politics, which assumes that only white kids can learn to read and count, could someone actually believe that the futures of kids of color will be helped by lowering education standards.

Guess those progressives in Oregon missed the 2017 movie “Hidden Figures,” the true story of the brilliant black women whose computer-like math skills helped NASA safely send John Glenn into Earth orbit – and bring him back – in 1962.

What the people in charge of Oregon are doing is sad enough.

What’s even sadder is that Fox News and a dozen conservative pundits are the only ones who seem to be outraged.

I don’t expect the liberals at CNN or the New York Times to care. But where are the kids’ parents?

Black and brown parents in Oregon and every major U.S. city who can’t afford private schools, or who are unable to homeschool their kids, should be marching and protesting and raising hell with local politicians of both parties.

Black and brown communities should be voting out their school boards and demanding that schools get back to teaching the basics.

That means teaching their kids how to read, count and think – not what to think.

Most of all, though, black and brown parents should be demanding school choice, so that they are no longer forced to send their kids to the crappy public school in their designated district.

All parents should have as much choice in choosing their kids’ taxpayer-financed education as they do in choosing a car dealer or a grocery store – more actually.

Everyone would see how wrong – and stupid — it would be if parents in poor city neighborhoods were forced by law to buy their food only at the crummy local grocery because it’s within the boundaries of a carefully drawn government “Grocery District.”

Parents should be given a school voucher for what their city school district spends per student – upwards of $20,000 a year in most big cities – and be allowed to spend it at any public or private school they want.

For at least half a century black and brown and white kids trapped in our inner-city public school systems have been getting a fourth-rate education.

Seventy five percent of them can’t read or do math at their grade levels – but they’re automatically passed to the next grade anyway.

And most of the kids that do “graduate” from our worst city schools are barely qualified to run a register at a McDonald’s, much less go to a college or get an entry-level job with a future.

That’s because kids aren’t being taught the basics.

Instead, they’re being taught Critical Race Theory, a racist and twisted way of looking at our history that teaches school kids to hate America and hate white people.

I’m so glad the people who founded this country are dead so they can’t see what’s going on.

I’m also glad Martin Luther King Jr. is dead, so he can’t see how our failed educators are using the BS of Critical Race Theory to judge people by the color of their skin and not their character.

...OUR kids of color..."

Hey, Michael Reagan! Beat it with this tripe. They aren't my kids of color. I have and support my own kids.

One of the most tired, and false, tropes beloved by idiot conservatives who have conserved - nothing.

Summary: Hey blacks, the Oregon authorities think that your children are incapable of learning. Since a good many of us (me included) have trained blacks to be fighter pilots, PhDs in Math/EE/Physics, I disagree.

But then again, it’s Democrats - the founding party of the KKK and the most prejudiced collection of bigots in the multiverse. Everything they touch turns to excrement, but they still look in the mirror and think that they are the best and the brightest.

Democrats are an existential enemy and must be treated as such. With whatever means necessary.

Kids of color? Black and Brown? Cut it with that crap and go for the throat. The problem is that the vast majority of teachers in city government schools are illiterate and they can't even pass the test. They belong to and fully support teachers unions that lobby and donate to politicians. The trade off is simple. The teachers get to keep their jobs even though they are incompetent.

I don't give a damn about a test to graduate until teachers stop promoting children from grade to grade when the teachers haven't done their job. Part of that job is failing children when they do not achieve. Achieving is simple. Just read, write and compute at grade level. This isn't rocket science. It is simple stuff.

Focus on the basics, leave out all the leftist propaganda, all the LBGTQXYZ crap, and all the bLM, Antifa, Gorbal warming scientism drivel.

Focus is the key to learning. It's the key to teaching, but you first have to know what you are teaching. That is the problem. The only thing teachers know and feel comfortable with is leftist BS because that is what they were indoctrinated with when they went to college. Education degrees are an absolute joke. There is no rigor.

The question answers itself.

Graduating illiterate morons from high school isn’t the problem. The real scandal is that it costs so much taxpayer money to get this result.

Nobody outside the education industry would care if these misfits never went to school in the first place.

It’s not just minorities or POC or whatever that is being dumbed down. EVERYBODY (yes that includes white kids) will be dumbed down by this.

In Illinois we have LGBT, Asian, and Holocaust history required through grade 8. Now they are starting Culturally Responsive Teaching, which is CRT by a different name. The overwhelming problem for minority failure is fatherless households, but no one will even mention that. Much easier to blame Whites and the police. That is what CRT will do.

People who believe what this guy wrote do not live around black people. It’s not the school’s fault, it’s not the teacher’s fault. It’s the parents. Do they really think that Deshaun’s mother Laquaria gives a crap about his grades? Laquaria is out looking for weed and her next baby’s daddy. Deshaun is out on Saturday night with his pack shooting up the neighborhood for crying out loud. If a black parent cares about their child’s education they can get the same exact education as the average white child.

One aspect of this I haven’t seen mentioned is the adulteration of credentials. “He’s got a diploma, why didn’t you hire him? Racist! Pay thousands in compensation, do not pass Go.”

It doesn’t matter if said person can’t read or write. He has credentials.

“Dumbing Down Our Kids of Color”

Should read: Dumbing Down Our Kids. This is really nothing new as it’s been an ongoing march for decades. You see it in everyday and from all walks of life. Now the educrats are officially stating their position and proud of it.

Wake up America.

By saying they can graduate in spite of failure, failure is rewarded and blamed on Whitey, who is not failing.

But the “communities” and parent(s) are not doing it, Michael. They don’t care.

Got to keep that 95% (D) “real” vote to underpin the 125% fraud result in those precincts. Education makes that task much more difficult.
