President Biden on Tuesday drove the new F-150 Lightning electric pickup truck on a Michigan test track — and jokingly threatened to run over reporters if they asked about the conflict in Gaza.
Biden, in the driver’s seat, said through an open side window, “This sucker’s quick.”
The unscheduled test drive followed indoor remarks at a Ford facility in which Biden pushed for federal subsidies for electric vehicles.

“This suck..s”
I don’t care about the 0-60 of my truck. I care about it’s ability to drive more than 50 miles when towing a boat. I understand that electric motors can generate much more torque than gas, but for how long compared to a diesel?
Not at $70,000
If the government requires all electric vehicles then only the wealthy will be driving cars. All others will be driving electric scooters.
LOL! I saw that. Jao should try a skateboard. Prolly made in CHYNA 2.
That’s the whole idea.
When you’re towing a load, you are the first one to call a diesel generator fifty miles down the road.
Wonder why they didn’t have Pres(*) test drive it in a Michigan winter with headlights, heater and defrosters going full blast with the 4WD engaged?
If we like amazing acceleration AND real torque/power, and don’t care how long it takes to get a vehicle going, then STEAM should be the goal!
We’re talking major super power, but you’ll have to wait for steam up to get it ready to go. Or run it constantly.
Electric is fast but not real powerful, and we still have to wait for the thing to charge up.
Amazing how simple concepts like energy density are beyond most people.
Compared to diesel, batteries are a joke.
Even more ludicrous is comparing “renewables” to fossil fuels or nukes.
This is my concern. Everyone immediately argues, “electric motors are superior to gas engines,” but for how long? I can drive almost 800 miles on my extended diesel tank. 650 while towing my boat. How far is that electric motor going to run?
as soon as Air Force one flys with electric motors then I’ll buy an electric car
Does Joe have a valid driver license, and when is the last time he had to road test to get it renewed? After all, the most dangerous part of a motor vehicle is the nut behind the wheel, and Joe is way past his use by date.
He was probably on private property...no way this ass gets a drivers license renewed, something about remaining conscious while doing the applications.
That depends. Do you need heat/air? Towing with a full battery load, and no other amenities running, these trucks can reach as far 9 miles before needing a charge. Running heat, air or the radio will reduce that by up to 50%.
(/sarc; I don’t actually know)
And now, after zipping across the parking lot, he will declare this mess a total success and demand that we all must have one only.
Batteries are a power management issue that will leave us all in a mess.
Right now I and many others are struggling with the mess EPA made for us in offroad diesel without enough sulfur to prevent bacteria. The sludge of bacteria is killing our engines. Thank you again assholes of the giverment.
Everything they touch turns to crap.
I’ve seen pics that show a second steering wheel in truck. So was he really driving?
I think a hybrid ‘electrical assist’ would be the best of all worlds in new cars. they can even recharge themselves.
The biggest gas use is in acceleration. By contrast acceleration is where electrical motors perform best- but they suck up juice idling or constant speed.
Use electric to assist acceleration and then cruise on gas.
Do you think the target market for the Ford F-150 pickup is the right market for electric vehicles?
What happens when you are towing a heavy load?
FYI: Ford stock is down more than 2% so far today.
Where the hell are the going to get the electricity to run all these “quick” pieces of crap. Somebody is smoking too much happy smoke.
