Isaac Newton latest historical figure swept up in 'decolonisation' drive

Sheffield University said the mathematician may have benefited from "colonial-era activity" as it looks to overhaul its physics curriculum

Sir Isaac Newton has been labelled as a potential beneficiary of “colonial-era activity” in draft plans to “decolonise” the engineering curriculum at Sheffield University.

Students learning about the mathematician and scientist’s three laws of motion, the core of modern physics, could see changes in their teaching to explain the “global origins and historical context” of his theories, documents suggest.

The plans form part of the engineering faculty’s efforts to “challenge long-standing conscious and unconscious biases” among students to tackle “Eurocentric” and “white saviour” approaches to science and maths, and promote “inclusive design”.

A leaked copy of the “draft inclusive curriculum development” plan at the Russell Group institution says that “much important engineering content and curriculum resources is based on maths developed in the 18/19th century."

It claims pioneering scientists including Paul Dirac, Pierre-Simon Laplace, Newton, and Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz “could be considered as benefiting from colonial era activity”.

Newton, who lived until 1727, laid the foundations of modern science with his theory of gravity, in the seminal Principia, and theories on light, time, colour and calculus.

His equation for universal gravitation, written in 1666 when he was 23, helped overthrow more than a thousand years of Aristotelian thinking.

He was once voted Cambridge University student of all time by current students.

And all the instruments (including up to synthesizers) they love to play for their music that we cannot appropriate.

it must be really miserable to be a liberal- sitting around all day- looking, searching- straining to find something to be outraged over- the perpetually outraged party

Geez, I can’t think of anyone who contributed more to physics and its applications than Newton.

Coincidentally, I was looking for a biography of him, and the one that seemed the best cost $35 on Amazon. In paperback. I really want to read it though, and I called my local library today to see if they were open yet. They are, but you have to make an appointment first, or order it from their website. I really want to read that book.

Newton was a father of industrial revolution.
Because of him, the environment was destructed and the Co2 was released.
If not for him, we would be gladly living on organic food using Earth friendly renewable energy. Enjoying horse rides daily. Getting great walking exercise daily. Obesity would not bother us.
Shame on him!

That’s it! Just call oxygen RACIST! Let the wokeists go from “we can’t breathe” to “we WON’T breathe”. One can hope.

Somebody better come up with a new name for a kilogram-meter per second squared, and they better do it damned fast - there are precious snowflakes in physics classes all over the world undergoing serious triggering trauma even as we speak!

The existence of universities, public institutions like art and music centers, and the pursuit of knowledge for its own sake first require the accumulation of vast excess wealth beyond the immediate needs of the population. The wealth created in Europe from shipping and financial innovations like insurance and contract law made it possible for Galileo, Copernicus, and eventually Newton to make discoveries that changed human perception of the Universe. The Industrial Revolution built on their foundational work.

Clearly the whole of humanity benefited from the economic activity that lead to Newton’s scientific discoveries including the faculty at Sheffield University.

‘It claims pioneering scientists including Paul Dirac, Pierre-Simon Laplace, Newton, and Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz “could be considered as benefiting from colonial era activity”. ‘

Well, if “colonial era activity” is responsible for such a prolific era of scientific breakthroughs, then it sounds like perhaps we should go back to colonialism...

It wants to take us back to the jungle because that's better somehow.

The sooner the West gives up on the notion of government by the People the better for the elites who want to rule over us. That pesky Constitution is in their way. Along with those who understand and support it. Anti-white is cover for anti-western civilization, of which the USA is the peak. Going directly at Western Civilization is a much harder sale than after the white race, as current events clearly demonstrate.

If Isaac Newton was only as handsome and smart as St. George Floyd none of this would be happening...

It is little wonder Elon Musk is in such a hurry to get to Mars. Soon there won’t be any competent physicists or engineers left.

Wokeism must be a civilization filter. It would help explain why SETI has had no luck.

I demand that woke POC and their supporters quit appropriating my white culture by giving up indoor plumbing (Thomas Crapper), comfort air conditioning (Willis Carrier), telephones (Alexander Graham Bell), electricity (Edison, Westinghouse, Tesla, and a host of others), automotive transport (Rudolph Diesel, Gottleib Daimler, etc.), airplanes (Wright brothers), etc. And I’m just getting started.

As long as the woke idiots continue to observe the laws of gravity they will be honoring Newton whether they admit it or not.

I suggest that we make a rule that they can’t utilize the laws of gravity to keep themselves glued to the Earth is they cancel Newton.

There are no black Fields Medal recipients.

Which means either the criteria for award will be lowered, or the medal will be abolished.
