This incident goes way past the U. S. Marshall’s office.
It seems most institutions and organizations have now established the mindset that being against BLM is equivalent to being a racist or engaging in some hate crimes. This mindset has been allowed to stand without any ‘effective’ pushback by anyone.
I say ‘effective’ because sure there have been brave protesters who have taken on BLM to their face. Trump has said some things here and there. Not minimizing their efforts. But I don’t see any united effort to fighting this politically in an effective way.
Thus this ground has pretty much been ceded to the enemy. This is disastrous because of the precedence being set as it goes beyond BLM.
Of course what I am saying here is nothing new. We all see what’s going on here.
On a positive note — I have seen at least one case where a black pastor directly took on BLM ... in the pulpit. Doesn’t change much but was a joy to see.

Exactly. If he is burning the flag, I will publicly cheer him on. And if he states the truth, something like 42% of all violent crime in the USA is perpetrated by 2-3% of the population (Black Male criminals), I would back him up, as truth is an absolute defense to me.
But as you infer, it is always possible the guy wrote something in anger that was really racist, not this fake racism that is shouted at the drop of a hat now.

I don’t know what context you have heard it in, but I sure have heard it a LOT in the context of the use of the word, not directed at a target as a pejorative in the traditional sense that has given it its notoriety.
