WH Investigating ATF Decision to Increase Regulation on Certain Pistols
Breitbart ^ | October 10 2020 | AWR HAWKINS

The White House is investigating the ATF’s decision to increase regulation on Q, LLC’s (Q) Honey Badger Pistol, and the agency is warning that other AR-15 pistols may be targeted as well.

Brietbart News reported that the ATF sent Q a Cease & Desist letter, dated August 3, 2020, announcing a reclassification of Q’s Honey Badger Pistol as a short barrel rifle (SBR). This means the pistol now falls under the purview of the National Firearms Act (1934), as do machine guns, suppressors, and SBRs.

The ATF letter noted that two other Q pistols–the Sugar Weasel and the Mini Fix–may also fall under NFA purview.

...that arm brace is NOT fixed — it actually comes out — with any STOCK like that I can see why ATF is re-classing the pistol as a SBR...

It’s suppose to be an ARM BRACE not a stock - and there is clear images of people using it as a stock...

They are still short-range weapons, they just redefined the term ‘short-range’ to include rifles that will shoot farther.

Here in PA a firearm is a firearm.

No early pistol season, though some other states may be different.

We can't use semis except for varmints.

Now, a couple of coyotes don't like my AR "pistol".

News flash, Fud: The Second Amendment isn't just about hunting.

Sure. My point was more about the bow and muzzle-loader crowd needing special seasons. If you call a bull elk into bow range, you don’t need someone with 6.5 Creedmoor dropping them from the next ridge.

“In Illinois and Indiana centefire rifles are forbidden weapons for deer. Shotguns with slugs and muzzle loaders are the only legal firearms.”

Wrong, at least in IN, you can now use centerfire rifles.

” Some cartridges legal for deer hunting on public include the .350 Legend, .357 Magnum, .38-.40 Winchester, .41 Magnum, .41 Special, .44 Magnum, .44 Special, .44-.40 Winchester, .45 Colt, .454 Casull, .458 SOCOM, .475 Linebaugh, .480 Ruger, .50 Action Express, .500 S&W, .460 Smith & Wesson, .450 Bushmaster, and .50 Beowulf. Full metal jacketed bullets are illegal.”

The new rifles they now let you use only have a effective range of about 200 yds before they start dropping like a rock.

Thanks for that. I was unaware of the changes.

Appreciate the correction.

Well, you can always buy the brace from SB Tactical, and cut the barrel yourself???

Which State(s)? .45-70 has a rainbow trajectory, but is quite effective well beyond 200 yards. .30-06 isn’t all that flat-shooting either. Weapon restrictions are usually about safety for other hunters, and/or humane kills. Every weapon taken afield is a compromise.

Those are sweet. Had an opportunity to buy two of them a few months back for $1200 ea. Still kicking myself.

Looks like MI opened up some shotgun-only areas to straight-walled rifle cartridges of certain lengths, for deer season. Reasonable. In the west, bottlenecked cartridges are a near necessity in some cases. Around here, deer hunting with a rifle is a 20 feet to 350 yard proposition. A lot of weapons fill the bill. None are perfect for every shot.

It’s not just MI, It’s most of the midwestern states.

24 days from the election - pure politics.

The Director and Deputy Director are both ATF lifers, and both were promoted at least one time by Obama.

I can't tell from the ATF website bio who appointed the current Director, or when.

The Deputy Director was clearly promoted by Trump.

I do not see any photos of the guns, but I suspect they must be political eye candy for gun haters.

If Trump revokes the new regulations, photos of those guns and Trump's decision will be Page One news everywhere.

I’d like to think a lot of that is driven by the popularity of the AR platform. I’m surprised by some of the eastern restrictions on caliber, and bans on semis for hunting.

The .350 Legend may fit in a AR platform, but Winchester designed the cartridge for their bolt-action rifles.

By using a cartridge case somewhat like the .223 they were able to make .350 legend ammo on the same machines with little adjustments.

That makes .350 Legend ammo about 1/2 the cost of most rifle ammo.

Why did you insult me?

I was talking to another Freeper about PA gun laws.
