Trump Holds Huge 2020 Event In Virginia – Will He Flip It To Red In November? (VIDEO)

Could Trump flip Virginia to red in November?

It’s certainly possible. Virginia has gone red in other elections and since the Democrats control there at the beginning of this year, they have overplayed their had on a number of issues, particularly gun control.

Conservatives who live there are fired up, and many people who used to vote Democrat will be voting for Trump.

He held a massive campaign event there on Friday night.

President Trump took his stump speech into a key “purple” state Friday, telling Virginians their Gov. Ralph Northam represents the kind of governance they’ll get on a national scale if they vote for Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden in November.

“Only by voting for me can you save your country and can you save your Second Amendment,” Trump declared while speaking outside a hangar at Newport News/Williamsburg International Airport.

The president also argued that by backing Northam, a physician who supports late-term abortion, Biden had backed the governor’s opposition to life-saving medical care for infants born alive after abortions — as well as Northam’s pro-gun control agenda. Although Biden campaigned with Northam in 2017, he later called for the governor’s resignation in response to photos that allegedly showed Northam in blackface.

I still say Trump is taking Virginia this time.

A Trump 2020 Campaign official told Fox News the trip was as much about the neighboring battleground state of North Carolina as it was about Virginia. "Thirty-nine days from now, we're going to win Virginia, we're going to win North Carolina," Trump said during the rally.

George W was the last Republican to take Virginia(2004).

He won’t win the state, but he might affect some congressional races in VA districts 6, 4 and 2. The northern part of VA rules the rest of the state with an iron fist, and what they say at election time goes.

Sorry but we are overwhelmed by swamp creatures who have brought their Dem/Socialist politics from other Dem states. Stupid, I know, but who else would vote for such luminaries as Gov. Ralph Northam?

The place where he held the rally, Norfolk, is smack dab in the middle of YUGE military community. Its also close to the North Carolina border and situated along the I-95 corridor. Perfect placement to reach millions of people in a very diverse region. There are many Navy, Air Force, and Army bases close by, several well known universities in the immediate area, and it’s on the verge of the rural Virginia and North Carolina. It would be hard to to choose a better spot.

Not always. Not long ago a Republican nearly took a US Senate seat.

Can’t remember his name. Polls said he was down double digits.... but he nearly won. All because of them trying to change the name of the Washington Redskins.

Northern Virginia is the Swampurbs - hard to outvote that government-dependent monstrosity.

It’s a good sign that Trump is campaigning in Virginia and North Carolina as it indicates he knows he will win both states and is running up the score.

We saw the same pessimism from people like you four years ago when Trump was campaigning in places like PA and WI.

"Fools Gold" we were told. "Trump shouldn't be wasting his time and resources in states that he cannot win!"

Fortunately Trump didn't listen to the pessimists who seem content with ceding half the country to the Dems.

Having conquered the "unwinnable" Rust Belt in 2016, Trump is making a play to expand his base even further into places like VA, NV and MN.

Good for him. We need more fighters like Trump on our side.

if he knows he is going to win both states, why in the world would he waste valuable resources campaigning there...?

Trump won’t flip VA, but going to VA may help GOP Congress Critters.

Trump’s rallies are nationally broadcast or available live online. And while Democrats attempt to push a narrative that North Carolina is a swing state, it has been reliably Republican when voting for president and Virginia, especially with the anti 2A stance of the current governor and legislature, is primed to go Trump. At this stage in the game, it is about vote totals and Trump will win by a wide margin nationally.

Pres. Trump won’t get NOVA, but if he can flip Norfolk/Hampton Roads he might get the state.

Is there any estimate of the numbers of the Newport News crowd?

Last night I googled for the number of attendees last night and the first couple of replies said that it was in the hundreds. Fake news...it was in the thousands!

I hope that, after voting in Dems to control the state under Gov Northam, the Republicans will turn out in droves to re-elect the president and Republican congressional candidates. And that many of the ‘moderate’ Dems will have seen the light of living under a Democrapt dictatorship of Northam and his lackeys.

I think Trump could win Virginia this election for a coupe reasons, despite the fecklessness and perfidy of the state GOP. The VaGOP is simply the enemy of conservatives, more comfortable with table scraps from the communists than in actually representing Constitutional ideals. Such posture resulted in overwhelming apathy among likely GOP voters in the past few elections. It got so bad that senior state GOP party hacks actively supported Gov. Blackface McBabykiller rather than their own stalwart, Ken Cuccinelli. Those voters who sat out the last few elections just might come back to the polls in droves. Plus, the bat-crap-crazy communists did what communists do when taking control; they rule with an iron fist against the will of the people. In their push to disarm the populace with their crazy gun confiscation agenda they wakened a sleeping giant. My observation is that a huge cohort of 2A voters in VA were previously seduced by communists beginning with Mark Warner. Some portion of those votes will switch to Trump, if it is a large enough portion he can win the state.

I'm with you, Sam. In every FR thread about Trump's chances to flip a 2016 Blue State to 2020 Red, there are always Debbie Downers who chime in to say he can't win there. I'm convinced many of the naysayers are just DNC trolls here to curb enthusiasm.

Personally, I think Trump has a great chance to flip several Blue states this time around. VA being one of them.

My sister lives in Virginia Beach and her and her husband think that Northram is an expert on how to handle a pandemic because he’s a doctor. Also, when we moved from Georgia to Spain I asked them to give a very nice pellet rifle to my nephew, who was away at college at the time. Months later I was speaking to him on Skype and I asked him how he liked the gun. He had no idea what I was talking about. It turned out that they had hidden it away and never told him about it for his own safety. Bottom line is you can choose your politics but you’re stuck with your family. I can only pray they haven’t infected my niece and nephew with their sickness.

....3,000 - according to the once-conservative Richmond Times-Dispatch....Virginia state and local health officials got their panties in a collective twist because, by law ?? such events should only allow 250 people in attendance...yeah, sure....Virginia used to be a very conservative state (at least it was when we moved there in the early 1970s), but it is no longer... I would be surprised of Mr. Trump won The Old Dominion...but some day pigs might indeed fly.......
Best of luck from The Lone Star State.......!!! Mr. Trump will very, verly likely take Texas, as he should.....
