President Donald Trump's announced Saturday night that the Supreme Court nominee he plans to announce next week to fill the vacancy left by Ruth Bader Ginsburg will be a woman, spotlighting two conservative women as his potential pick.
During a campaign rally in North Carolina, Trump declared 'I will be putting forth a nominee this week, it will be a woman', later adding his pick would be a 'very talented, very brilliant woman' because 'I like women more than I like men'.
As he left the White House for the rally, the president identified two women as front runners: Amy Coney Barrett, 48, of the Chicago-based 7th Circuit and Barbara Lagoa, 52, of the Atlanta-based 11th Circuit as possible nominees.

Hard to argue with those great backgrounds!
Calling Catholicism a sect? Really?
Remember Joe Biden is Catholic as well, so that takes away that angle.
Dont trust the Daily Mail. Article makes Barret sound like a nut.
Either one would work - I think ACB might be more qualified, maybe, but the other already sits on a SC.
The ‘rats will be choking on their own rabid foam, either way.
LOL! Mocking Mayor Pete again. Hahahaha!
“a Christian sect that inspired Handmaid’s tale”?
Actually, she’s probably a pretty good pick in that case, if that’s what the media says about her.
Remember Joe Biden is Catholic as well, so that takes away that angle.I'm not a fan of any organized religion and I NEVER think of Catholics as conservatives. Their Pope is a Communist.
I'm putting my money on the Cuban who might have an inside track on how destructive Communism is. That it should be opposed and avoided at all costs
Also will not go over well with Dem Catholics right before the election if all they attack her on is being a Catholic.
And that's the angle they're going to have to try to use since sexual assault allegations are not going to work well against a woman. And the Daily Mail is already tainting the water.
I expect the rest of the MSM will follow suit very shortly.
We need to pray very much for this appointment, that God would intervene and put in place who HE wants. And He needs to move in hearts to make it happen and we ought to pray for that as well.
Interesting that they think that Castro stopping someone from becoming a lawyer is a good thing.
They love them some Castro at the Daily Fail.
It’s a UK publication...
Went into this strongly preferring ACB, but the more I learn about Lagoa, the more I like her.
Hoping she is the choice now.
I heard Robert Barnes, who is a very smart attorney, being interviewed by Alex J. tonight. He said the word was that Lagoa is a legit conservative and he reminded me that Barrett oddly said she must recuse herself from decisions where a constitutional ruling would go against dictates from Rome (think Francis and illegal immigration):
Barnes fervently hopes that Trump sticks to his guns and names Lagoa.
Well, People of Praise they’re calling a sect and even that’s off.
I hope neither of them judges based on feels, no matter how much heart string tugging a defense uses.
Judge by the Constitution, and ONLY the Constitution!
Sotomayor said during her conformation hearings “I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasnt lived that life.
Lets see how the Dems feel about that statement now.
