Over the weekend, a teaching assistant at the University of California Santa Barbara (UCSB) tweeted that if he were sent back 2,000 years in a time machine, he would “assassinate Jesus of Nazareth” before Jesus’ ministry.

And interestingly enough, there is some math to support that you can also go back in time. So you can be present in some past age. You just cannot change anything.
The old ‘Twilight Zone’ even did an episode about that. Some guy went back in time to kill Hitler. He got Hitler in his sights. But then his gun jammed. History was not changed.

The new Twilight Zone did a different take. Someone goes back in time to drown Adolf as an infant, and he’s a wonderful baby, quiet and patient, but she drowns him. Jesus would have been assassinated early on had it not been for two things:
1. The Jewish authorities were afraid killing Jesus would cause a revolt. And they were right.
2. Jesus was under God’s protection and the end had already been revealed by his prophets - the divine plan.
They just study why people are religious...not what religion is more in line with current knowlege. As far as they are concerned...thr religion of the spaghetti monster or the discordians is as valid as any other. Except marxism and guaranteed income and life outcomes of course. Should be department of psychology or sociology of religions.
