What should have been done in the first so called Kung Flu Stimulus Package was matching dollar for dollar the amount of Unemployment paid out by the States rather than just paying an extra $600 a week to everyone regardless of their Pre Kung Flu Income.
Since Unemployment is paid out based on the Person’s Employment income, the people who were earning less to begin with get less and the people who were earning more would get more.
This approach would have cost a lot less money and prevented the idea that it’s better to not work and get paid versus working for a Living.
They should have also stipulated that anyone refusing to go back to their Jobs when their Employers opened back up would lose ALL their Unemployment Benefits.
The Rats might run on a new slogan, “Make Unemployment Profitable Again”. #MUPA

A friend of mine lost her $30k/year job. I offered a job at $40k. She is not interested because she is making $50k a year unemployment.

It’s a term of art intended to discourage anyone from delving into the poor choices individuals made which have limited their success. By this they say success was impossible, no matter what someone did so you can’t blame criminal behavior, drug use, aggressive attitudes, dropping out of school, etc. etc.
