SAN ANTONIO - The Texas Division of Emergency Management is advising residents to consider wearing a mask at all times, even in your own home.

In an interview with our Ryan Wolf, Chief Nim Kidd said as much, adding the community has paid attention and done well outside their homes, but it is not enough.

"We still need people to wear the mask out in public, we still need people to keep social distance and isolation," Kidd said. "Ryan, the one thing I want to try to get across today is we need to do that when we’re in our homes also.

Words fail me. I'm usually the best with a snappy retort. But seriously.... what can be said when someone like this shows up?

Wasn’t it the movie Naked Gun where the 2 people had on full-length, body condoms? Wearing masks at home seems like about the same idea.

“I’m usually the best with a snappy retort.”

Q: Did you catch that fish?
A: No, I talked him into giving himself up.
A: No, I was sitting here minding my own business when the crazy thing jumped into my pail.
A: No, it’s a plastic model to get people like you to start fascinating conversations.

Q: (from a woman just pulled over by a police officer) Did I do something wrong, officer?
A: No, today we’re giving tickets out for doing things right.
A: No, I just got tired of lugging around these heavy summonses so I decided to give some of them away.
A: No, I’m giving a ticket to this crazy street because it’s going the wrong way.

Q: (from a waiter, to a husband and wife) Table for how many?
A: A hundred and twelve — we like to change seats every few minutes.
A: One — my wife will sit on my shoulders.
A: I don’t know — I can’t count that high, either.

LOL. I’m still seeing people walking alone outside and driving their cars wearing a mask.

Even in the shower?

Kidding aside, this is madness.

I can’t bear the masks, and as soon as I leave a store down it goes. I don’t wear it in my car, and won’t wear it at home or in my yard. Not that there are any neighbors close enough to notice.

We should seriously consider postponing the presidential election until March. If it saves just one life......

Context is important!

What Chief Kidd said was if you have family members who routinely interact with people outside the home (IE, shopping, working, partying etc.), then that individual should wear a mask to prevent the possible spread to family member - but it is only necessary if you have someone in your home with underlying medical conditions.

Sounds more reasonable when you remove the media spin.

I get that many don’t want the government telling them what to do. I get that there is uncertain scientific evidence that masks do anything.

Let people make up their own minds.

Dig a grave, set a coffin in it, lie down inside, and close the lid. Stay there until the government says it is safe. For added protection wear a mask. :)
