What Chief Kidd said was if you have family members who routinely interact with people outside the home (IE, shopping, working, partying etc.), then that individual should wear a mask to prevent the possible spread to family member - but it is only necessary if you have someone in your home with underlying medical conditions.
Sounds more reasonable when you remove the media spin.
I get that many don’t want the government telling them what to do. I get that there is uncertain scientific evidence that masks do anything.
