Subway announced Wednesday it is banning the open carry of firearms in restaurants across the nation.

WRAL reports the ban applies even in states where open carry is legal.

Guns.com notes Subway’s firearm policy now says the restaurant chain requests “guests (other than authorized law enforcement) refrain from openly displaying firearms inside restaurants — even in states where ‘open carry’ is permitted.”

I’m actually okay with this when it comes to private business establishments.

Open-carry disturbs some people. Well, that’s just too bad you might say. Then consider this. The 1A gives folks the right to possess erotica (pornography). But you really shouldn’t be carrying it around openly, in stores and such.

Now here’s what I’m NOT okay with. Too many states make you go through all sorts of hoops to conceal-carry. That right should be automatic.

I have no problem with the policy. I never open carry except when out in the woods. I want my weapon to be a surprise.

Too much sodium and mono saturated glutamate yellow dye #7 anyway. Support locally made sandwiches, not onse made in vats in Kansas City and shipped around the country.

Don’t open carry either, but the principle is the thing.

This.

Most people who open carry look like yay-hoos and will get shot first if stuff happens, but I totally support them looking like yay-hoos and getting shot first.

I have had Jimmy Johns one time. I wasn’t impressed with the speed or the food actually. I love Subway’s Sweet Onion sauce.... it’s great on a salad which is what I usually get.

Open carry: Because keeping the pistol *inside* your riding armor is a great way to be severely injured when you crash on a motorcycle.

I carry my gun in to all kinds of places that say I can’t carry a gun in to them. It’s in my purse.

> Never understood “open carry”. Why would you want to? <

I agree with you. The open-carry argument is that some bad guy will see your gun, and then change his mind on doing the crime. I have my doubts about that. I don’t think a criminal rushing into a convenience store would take the time to examine every customer there.

But here’s what I can envision. An open-carry guy is in line at a convenience store. He’s focused on paying is bill. A nearby bum/tweeker sees the gun. Grab and run.

“Wonder why they are so fearful?”

Pretty much all of corporate America has gone wobbly.

Oh my, yes. It’s great. If I had a bottle of it at home, I’d probably put it on everything...cereal, bread, hamburgers, etc. (Only half kidding.)

Subway, please show me all those news stories where a law-abiding open-carrier went on a shooting rampage.

So long Subway. Your sandwiches have fallen a lot in quality. Jimmy Johns is much much better. Don’t let the door hit ya....

Subway Sucks. They hardly put anything on there subs. And the quality of the ingredients is substandard. And the latest is that they no longer carry Italian dressing or Oregano. Imagine that.

Or if you do not wish to pay extra, hidden carry should work. Gun will be used only when a robber shows up and threatens your life. You can shoot him and claim self defense.

Open carriers are just drawing attention to themselves anyway. We taught our kids never to draw attention to themselves.

Subway loads up ingredients on sandwiches, making them almost too big for my mouth. I love the place.

Bulldog makes a OWB Holster that looks like a square Cell Phone Holder that completely conceals the Firearm. I’m thinking of getting one of those.

I carry a Taurus G2C 9mm.

Right now I “technically” Open Carry, but I always wear my Shirts untucked and it covers my OWB Holster and Gun.

I’ve found that IWB Holsters are very uncomfortable for me no matter how I position them, but I’ll use one if my choice of Wardrobe demands it.
