An incoming freshman at the University of Alabama is standing up for black-owned businesses damaged during civil unrest that stemmed from George Floyds death last month in Minneapolis.
CJ Pearson, 17, is a native Georgian and longtime Bama football fan. He has announced that he will be studying political science in Tuscaloosa this fall.
The same week that the Capstone announced its plan to reopen for on-campus instruction, Pearson on Thursday hand-delivered a $10,000 check to Wilbourn Sisters Designs.
This, according to WSB-TV, was one of several black-owned local businesses seriously damaged as protesting devolved into criminal activity in Atlanta in recent weeks.
Incredibly, Pearson has raised more than $165,000 from crowdsourcing over just one week. The money will go to stores like Wilbourn Sisters that need to repair damage from vandalism and looting.
I think its so important that we put actions behind our words, Pearson told the TV network. Lets show that black lives matter by supporting these black-owned businesses that were adversely affected by these recent events, and not intentionally.

It’s a nice gesture. But I can’t help but thinking it pretty much dehumanizes white business owners who saw their businesses destroyed.
It’s not a nice gesture if he is only helping one group of people while ignoring the other.

They’re all “privileged” so therefore undeserving of any support or sympathy. /sarc
Why just black-owned?
good question
Why just black-owned?
You haven’t been paying attention. WL(Don’t)M
Why don’t you raise money for the white businesses?
Why not ALL businesses that were damaged or destroyed?
Send the bill to the communist agitators (aka democrat party).
It’s not a nice gesture. It’s a racist action.
A couple of years ago I volunteered to serve as a panel member to listen to presentations being given by high-school seniors and rate them.
One young black man presented his research on the topic of black owned businesses. He actually did quite a fine job. It was well-researched and nicely presented with Powerpoint graphs and all.
After the presentation there was a Q&A and I asked him what got him interested in this topic. His response was shocking. “I really hate it when I go into a store in my neighborhood and see that it’s owned by an Indian or an Aaaaaa-Rab!”
So fired-up on the topic of racism, and yet he could not hear it coming out of his own mouth.
Too many young people are in need of intense deprogramming I fear.
you know why.
Black Businesses Matter
Yes, eventually we must admit that people of all races can be racists.
Super Racist thing to do.
Making a charitable donation is racist?
Maybe you need your head examined.
WLDM....... get your tee shirt before they sell out.
White/asian owned businesses will just have to suck it up.

..."and all those white-owned businesses? They all deserved the vandalism, so **** them."
