Walmart should sue the government of Chicago for the return of all taxes they paid the city over the years on the understanding that the city would provide adequate law enforcement protection.
Any company who continues to do business in Democrat-run cities deserves the financial pain they will continue to experience.
Bottom line: Serious people will be very reluctant to live, locate businesses and invest in urban areas. Retailers that do locate to service the residual population will charge high prices and make only minimal investments in infrastructure. New York may come to look the same but it will be radically different.
New York real estate was buttressed by foreigners who saw NYC real estate as a safe haven for their wealth and ultimately their families. Who thinks that now?

If we look back at the history of rioting, in some cities, the riot zones still look like war zones years later. Rebuilding and redevelopment is a slow process and in some cases just doesn’t happen at all. Bombed out buildings are abandoned and not rebuilt. Businesses in the area do not rebuild. Even businesses which weren’t destroyed, often close down or relocate out of the riot zone. People who are able to decide to move out.
