In addition, Walmart should demand reparations—a tax credit for all taxes due in the future until the full cost of damages has been recovered.

That was a favorite phrase of my late father, and I like its applicability in this situation.

I would tell the mayor we have determined that the locations in the city are “ not conducive to profitability” and announce the closure of 10 stores.

Just out of curiosity, how many cops were assigned to watch the Walmart parking lot to record the license plates of those who attended the looting? How many of their cars were towed?

I hope every single retailer that was looted and not protected by local law enforcement flees Chicago and never goes back. Close every single retail outlet they have, move across the border to Indiana if necessary.

You want money coming back into the bad parts of town?

March on the gang bangers and protest them. Support the cops.

Even before all this rioting, this has been a tough problem for the business world. If they open stores in bad neighborhoods, they find increased costs of doing business, due to :

1. higher insurance costs for being in a bad area.
2. inventory shrinkage, due to shoplifting and other problems with controlling inventory.
3. higher security costs than are incurred in other areas.

In the end, some retailers who had high hopes of doing well and doing some social good, have ended up leaving.

If the retailers that were cleaned out by the thieves[ they are not “looters” that was a politically correct title given to them by the media to make them respectable] They are thieves of the lowest ilk. One could use the term pirate also. or burned out by the same return, they are fools. Let the bastards starve and do without. They have, by their actions, proven they prefer they would rather live like animals. Allow them to do that. Just prepare to battle with them when they attempt to leave the forest and go on raids.

And weren't liberals against Walmart? I mean, low wage dead end jobs that could be all fixed with SEUI coming in and unionizing the employees so they can donate employee wages to Democrats while hard coding the low end job aspects vs the market forces which pushed most Walmart jobs to $13 or more an hour?

Walmart: You rebuild that store, you'll become the evil corporation. You don't rebuild it, you'll still be the evil corporation, but you'll save all that money from stock shrinkage.

Abandon Chicago.

It’s the economically sane thing to do at this point.

Pounding sand is a useful enterprise, if done in the right place and for economic benefit. But Mayor Lightloafers is not interested in the economic benefit, only to have a target that can be struck again and again.

Sears used to have a major store on State Street, until it too was driven out, because of the rampant theft by the employees finally made the location entirely untenable.

The landmark structure west of the Loop isn’t even called the “Sears Tower” any more.

Chicago is a perfect example of why the liberal media complains about what they claim are “food deserts”. Stores are in the business of making a profit, Not allowing out of control theft. YouTube is full of vids showing everything from convenience stores to fast food restaurants that are completely sealed off with bulletproof glass. You order from a menu on the wall and the clerk gets your items and passes everything through the glass. That’s a darned shame.
