I would tell the mayor we have determined that the locations in the city are “ not conducive to profitability” and announce the closure of 10 stores.

Pounding sand is a useful enterprise, if done in the right place and for economic benefit. But Mayor Lightloafers is not interested in the economic benefit, only to have a target that can be struck again and again.

Sears used to have a major store on State Street, until it too was driven out, because of the rampant theft by the employees finally made the location entirely untenable.

The landmark structure west of the Loop isn’t even called the “Sears Tower” any more.
