Gov. Pritzker says he understands frustrations of business owners. What do the restaurant guys think?
CHICAGO TRIBUNE ^ | MAY 13, 2020 | John Kass

Posted on 05/14/2020 8:02:39 AM PDT by SJackson

The other day I went out to talk with restaurant guys. They once fed hungry people for a living. Now they’re restaurant guys without customers.

Gov. J.B. Pritzker, the trust fund kid who bought the governor’s office, shut business down to “flatten the curve” of coronavirus. Pritzker keeps pushing back the goal posts he set for when businesses will be allowed to reopen.

First, it would be only be for a few weeks. Now it may be late June or even longer until business opens up.

In their empty places, the restaurant guys stare at the walls and hear the echoes of their own voices. Takeout isn’t enough to pay the bills. Rent and utilities must be paid. Purveyors want their money for meat and produce and there are taxes — sales taxes and business fees and property taxes.

And government is always hungry. Once the plate is clean, government asks for more. Because government never goes on a diet. It just eats and eats.

“I don’t want to get the politicians mad at me, because it’s tough enough to survive without that, and I don’t know how we’ll do it but I’ll try to survive,” said my friend Joe Cistero in his empty JC’s Pub restaurant in McCook, where I love the pork osso bucco. He makes the best tiramisu I’ve ever eaten and I’m married to a Sicilian.

In his empty place, he showed me all the Plexiglas he’s gathering, to separate the diners. And his new outdoor patio, because customers might feel more comfortable outdoors.

“But I need customers to stay alive. I get it that the government wants our taxes,” said Joe. “OK, fine, but where do I get the money to pay my taxes without customers?”

They’ve flattened the economy. They’ve flattened the hospitals and their staff. They’ve flattened the economy incl. 401ks, savings accts. and all of our jobs. It’s time to re-open everything and get this “second wave”, if there ever is one, over with and get back to the OLD normal and not this phony new normal they are foisting on us.

Two weeks at a time. They give you a date for return to normal, but it is so far from normal that it is a joke. Then, as that date approaches, they add another two weeks.

Some of them have no intention of “allowing” us to regain the soaring economy that we had, until they get rid of Donald Trump.

I think it’s going to come down to this: The class that still has an income, can work at home or is on government payrolls, assumes that won’t change.

It will.

Today, only those who see clearly can understand how the web of commerce is starting to unravel to the point that all be affected. The Work at Home brain trusters will lose their jobs when their companies have no customers.

Either than or food riots and breadlines may break through the wall of Karens simpering for 100% safety in all things.

It doesn’t look like Pritzker has missed any meals.

Pritzker has been called many things...but he’s never been called late for dinner.

For me, a significant part of dining out is interacting with other folks. Customers waiting for a table, the greeter, waitress (yes I said it), server, maybe the bus boy, other diners I might know, other diners I don’t know (hey, that looks good what is it?), and the non-family guests in my party.

The thought of hiding behind masks and plexiglass turns me OFF. It also makes it hard to read lips and hear well for my older ears.

It’s like the overlords want us to stop congregating for any reason. What? Might we talk about resistance and rebellion?

Verses have popped into my mind:

Hebrews 10
25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

Acts2:
42 And they continued stedfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.

43 And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles.

44 And all that believed were together, and had all things common;

45 And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need.

46 And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart,

47 Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.

I added verse 47 after I noticed the comma at the end of verse 46. I read 47 and was hearing from God, Himself!

Praise God, as we see that day approaching.

I had been a volunteer for a public library and forced to go to an orientation session so I could work for them for free. One of the major talking points was “we could do such and such and this and that but we have no money.” This in a library that was compare to Saddam Hussein’s palaces when it was being built.

This is intentional. No one is going to support a revolt when all they need to do is wait 2 more weeks.

If they came out and said September, which is their actual target date, more people would get on board with a revolt.

These corrupt left-wing hacks have absolutely no idea how businesses are run. A good majority of these businesses are not going to start up again, or they'll move to a better economic climate. They act like businesses will magically get back on their feet as if nothing happened.

I just ordered Chinese food (yeah, I know) last night. We were forced to wait outside for our food, it was cash only, and I waited an additional 30 min from the already 30 min I was told to wait to pick up. If this is the new normal, count me out, but I feel bad for the restaurants.

Also, liberals reveling in this should note that their hipster festivals, things like craft-beer, arts and craft, folk festivals, and concerts are going to be wiped out too. Maybe that will wake them up.

Pritzker knows good and well what he is doing. Crash the IL economy hard enough then ask the Feds for a bail out. When Trump says no he will scream from the mountain top “Look what Trump did to Illinois” Down state is not falling for it fat boy.

Billionaire Putzker doesn’t care about small business - he never had to work a day in his life.

The latest is that he will ignore any court rulings against him and extend the lockdown through Labor Day.

More Chicago people are heading over the border into Indiana.

That’s all you need to know. How many trust fund kids are functioning member of society, as a percentage. Not many

“Down state is not falling for it fat boy.”

I just ripped my Dem rep, Conroy, up here in DuPage County a new one this morning. We personally know 3 people who have shuttered their businesses and are now facing bankruptcy and ruin because of Pritzker.

One of them is auctioning off his machinery and will be lucky to get 30 cents in the dollar for it. He’s been waiting over a month to get UC approved.

Get in the face of your downstate rep, dem or republican, and demand an end to these ceaseless illegal shutdown “orders”. Call your County Sheriff and demand he do what the Grundy and Kendall County Sheriffs have done and refuse to enforce them anymore.

I’ve already done that here. My County Board members are next.

No, he doesn’t get it.

Nobody is in the restaurant business *to feed hungry people*.

They are in the business to make a living.

I doubt seriously that Deb Conroy cares at all what you have to say, unless you advocated unrestricted abortion at public expense; then she’d probably buy you dinner. Oh, wait; can’t do that, either. But she will send you a nice thank you card.
