Former Vice President Joe Biden and other top Obama officials received information in response to "unmasking" requests targeting retired Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn in the final weeks of the previous administration, according to a memo declassified by acting Director of National Intelligence Richard Grenell.
The list, obtained by the Washington Examiner on Wednesday, shows Biden received information at least once in response to such an unmasking request on Jan. 12, 2017

I am ashamed to admit this but I don’t clearly understand what “unmasked” means in this case.
The word, I DO understand, means removing a mask.
Should I understand that somehow all this stuff going on with Flynn was covered up but a whole bunch of people wanted him revealed so he could be found guilty of something?
Wish I could grasp all this deep state stuff.

Biden will have to answer in court on what he did on January 12, 2017 and did he leak the phone call to the Washington Post. No way does he get around this.
Flynns call was leaked to the Washington Post in January. That is a felony.
It's the leaking that is illegal

I thought the Flynn/Kislyak phone call was at the end of December 2016. Most of these dates are from before then, one already in November.

The media will downplay this and act as if it is NOT important.
We certainly listen to foreign conversations. If the foreign conversation includes an American, any American, his identity is masked. It’s illegal to surveil Americans without a warrant.
So from what I understand, if a transcript of the call is made, the American identity is hidden, or masked.
It requires a FISA warrant or a specific national security request to unmask the American.
It should be exceedingly rare. In the Obama administration, we’re about ready to find out just how common it was. I think we’re also going to find out that they magically only had reason to unmask Republicans and political enemies.
But of course, there’s not a hint of scandal
The problem is that so many people had access to the unmasking, it is impossible to prove which one leaked.
Unfortunately, if only one or two sought the data (and then shared it), it would be easier to point blame.
Wonder if they all looked independently to protect each other assuming this list would ultimately come out?
