Florida Governor Says State Beat Back Virus Without ‘Draconian’ Measures
The Epoch Times ^ | 21 April 20 | Jack Phillips

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said Tuesday that his state has beat back the COVID-19 epidemic without using “draconian orders.”

“I got to give credit to the people of Florida,” DeSantis said on “Fox & Friends,” adding that there were predictions that Florida would be “worse than New York” state, which is the U.S. epicenter.

DeSantis came under fire from critics who said that he was too slow to implement a statewide stay-at-home order like other states. Some said that because of the state’s significant amount of elderly and retired residents, Florida would suffer greatly during the pandemic.

“If you look at what’s happened, that’s not true,” he added. “New York, for example, has about 25 times the number of fatalities of Florida.”

Why? He did the minimum and it payed off. I wouldn’t want to be in his shoes, with sniping like that.

Don’t be surprised if the Dems send down a bunch of infected people to cough and sneeze all over everyone from the Panhandle down to Dade. I believe they might.

Hope he remains strong. Funny how there is no criticism of NYC leaving disgusting subway open. Wonder why that cramp hole has 40 percent of cases.

He’s the best governor we’ve had down here in a long time. He was under intense media pressure to issue draconian lockdown provisions and refused. He also didn’t shut businesses until he had to. We never had irrational rules like in Michigan or other blue states and were able to continue church services and recreational activities throughout. Our numbers, when you back out south Florida, are fantastic and even if you include them, our mortality rate is relatively low compared to other states. Desantis has done fantastic for us. Thank gosh gay meth head sex orgy Gillum wasn’t our Governor.

I'm starting to like him less.

You along with the entire media and the entire left.

And none of us who live in Florida give a rip whether any of you like him more, less, or in between.

Why? His only problem was that he did what Trump did, let local authorities decide. Most of them in South Florida are Dem loonies so they locked their towns down, and our mayor in Jacksonville did too. However, he’s being forced to loosen up, partially by the governor and partially by the fact that many in our population here simply don’t give a darn and realize that the panic reaction is all hype.

Jax is a young, healthy and fitness obsessed town that was filled with small businesses and start-ups. We need to get back to work.

I wrote to De Santis and my state rep (who has been very good!) the other day and anybody who lives in Florida should write to Gov DeSantis and their Reps and Senators (State and Fed) too.

OK! Cease Fire!

I had my head up my a$$ when I posted that. I was being a bit of a purist and taking issue with his use of the word ‘draconian’ as I consider any erosion of our personal freedoms to be exactly that.

Stuck my nose in where it didn’t belong since I don’t live anywhere near Florida. And, as one of you said, thank God you weren’t stuck with Gillum.

Screw him. The unemployment system is a disaster worst in the nation, and he does not care.

But he agreed to take over without filing Disney employees. And everyone else is in the back of the bus This reeks of favoritism. Disney employees will get paid, and only 4% of he rest are paid. Excuse me thats 96% are told to rot while we take care of the favored.

Sorry a little bitter. I voted for the SOB. Only thing the alternate was much worse.
