Warren: If Biden asked me to be VP, I would say yes

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) said Wednesday that she would agree to running as vice president on the Democratic ticket with presumptive presidential candidate Joe Biden.

Asked by MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow what she would say if the former vice president asked her to be his running mate, Warren said she would say yes.

The comments come just hours after Warren endorsed Biden, her former primary opponent, in the race.

Warren expanded on her endorsement Wednesday during her interview with Maddow, praising Biden for his empathy that she said would be beneficial in leading the country, especially amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Warren said President Trump measures crises in terms of what advances his personal political and financial interests. SNIP

My money’s on Abrams at this point. He needs a woman, a Black and a Southerner. (It would help if he could find a high-profile Black Trans). He’s already got MA and most east coast votes in the bag.

Gosh, it was sooooo big of her to offer.

Joe has a tough assignment: pick a running mate who will excite the extreme left wing of the Dem Party (i.e., most of it) without terrifying whatever passes for moderates and independents. But because of his patent mental decline, Biden must pick someone that all those voters can imagine becoming President the hour after the inauguration, and who can reliably deliver some critical electoral votes. Warren? Harris? Stacy Abrams? Moochelle? Jarrett would be more credible since she has experience pulling Obama’s strings.

I can hardly imagine that pair in office. It would be like watching a Leslie Neilson movie... except realtime.

I wouldn’t count on Biden packing it in before his four years were up. Look at Ruth Buzzi Ginsberg. The Rats can keep even that dessicated corpse alive, so slow Joe is probably viable. Not to say his dementia won’t become painfully obvious and provoke a crisis if he somehow turns out to be prez.

She wouldn’t be able to hold both offices nor collect both salaries.

Not true. She would be able to get both salaries while running for another office. Yes, once the results are determined, if she were to be on the winning team, she would have to forfeit the senator role and salary.

Well, heck! If he asked ME, I’d do it.

If we won (God forbid), I’d be just a heartbeat away from being President. He isn’t going to last 4 more years!

See post 31. I agree. But while running, yes, they are able to collect both the government salary, and the "running" salary. That's why in recent years, we've had 17 candidates running on a given ticket.

Each candidate running for (example) president, is entitled to be paid the salary of the office for which they are running (including bennies). So each candidate can draw a salary of $400k a year plus bennies from its campaign coffers each year.

Combine that with the 15% vig on campaign expenses ( when you name your "partner" campaign manager) and these jackles are making a mint each time they run.

He could ask, but I don’t think it’ll help him. And neither would any of the other Dem women prez candidates that dropped out. It doesn’t make sense that the Dem voters would be enthusiastic about having as a vice president, who would take over for Joe, to be someone that they didn’t want as president in the first place.
