That's overall for people put on ventilators, but here's a personal example of where that number comes from. My father suffered a massive heart attack a couple of years ago. EMTs defibbed his heart back to beating and got him to the hospital, where they put him on a ventilator and a dozen other machines. Two days later, after no improvement (and probably another heart attack) we took him off the life support. Now, as far as I'm concerned, he was dead when he hit the floor. The rest was just medical intervention that had an all-but-zero chance of delivering anything positive. But technically, he was on a ventilator and he later died. I assume this in not an uncommon scenario.

RE: I wonder if they tried hydroxychloroquine + Zinc + Zpack.
That drug combo has been known to work wonders for those who are in the early symptoms of the disease.
Unfortunately, for those already on ventilators, the Effectiveness of HCQ + Zpack is not well established :(
is Hydroxychlorquine and Zpack unsafe? I don’t understand why anyone is opposed.
Like, what is the downside?
