You “could” pay the slaves that were sold, instead of Georgetown freeing them, if they were alive today, but their “descendants” should have to prove what of their current status - education, work, ect, is derived directly from the Georgetown actions involving their ancestors. Otherwise, “black” millionaires 200 years from now could launch similar suits as this one, on equally questionable arguments.

Exactly. Both sides of my family came to the US around 1920, so they weren't involved. But my husband's family came from Maine and Connecticut. They were never slave owners. His ancestors fought (and some died) in the Civil War. Do descendants of slaves owe anything to descendants of Union soldiers?
What about white indentured slaves from Europe who helped settle America? Do they get reparations?
Close the doors, sell the real estate. Give it all to the descendants!

I thought the concept of blood libel is not part of our judicial system.
Perhaps the descendants of slave population should pay the white population. For it is the white population which has provided, over the years, the education, acceptance and opportunity for the advancement of black population over the generations since the emancipation. It is the white’s warm and open hearts which has made it happen. The blacks should be eternally thankful for all the whites. Look where the black population is in today’s America. They are represented in good numbers and many have risen to the top of every sector of life. Is there any place in American society where blacks are not welcome? No! They are an important part of the American society and culture. As a race they have done well, and for that we can all be thankful.
Not to worry, Georgetown. Nothing will happen to you.
Were it not for double standards, the folks who attend your sorry institution would have no standards at all. Good thing D.C. is right there to provide worthless low standard jobs in the gubmit for your little bitty grads.
