Democratic presidential hopeful Pete Buttigieg maintained his slim lead in the Iowa caucuses after the second round of results from the Monday night contest was released.
The results, which accounted for roughly 71 percent of the precincts that voted, showed the former South Bend, Ind., mayor with 26.8 percent of the delegate share. Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) nipped at his heels with 25.2 percent.
Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) and former Vice President Joe Biden rounded out the top four with 18.4 percent and 15.4 percent, respectively.
The Iowa Democratic Party earlier Tuesday released results for 62 percent of precincts, showing Buttigieg and Sanders in the lead. With the substantial number of precincts left to count and the margin so slim, the race remains too close to call.
Despite no official winner being declared, Buttigieg has already declared himself the victor as he works to gin up support heading into the New Hampshire primary next week.
So we dont know all the numbers, but we know this much: a campaign that started a year ago with four staff members, no name recognition, no money, just a big idea, a campaign that some said should have no business even making this attempt, has taken its place at the front of this race to replace the current president with a better vision for the future, he said at a campaign stop Tuesday.

Dem Iowa Caucus vote tally - Day Three
What is really on full display here is the Democrat commitment to election transparency and integrity. Parscale needs to make an ad on this topic.
Have we heard much from the possible future first pansy, yet? ..and what will his role be in a buttjob admin?
Maybe children’s “health”?
Nevada also I think.
Bernie, not sure nipping at the shirtlifter’s heels is a good idea.
Just like that.
Who care who’s king of the clowns?
Is Iowa the only state that does this sh!t?”
Only the Dens do it this way.
The Rep’s do a normal ballot where you vote once. Ballots are counted with people from each candidates campaign watching the count.
Then the results are announced to the attendees at that location.
Simple, easy.
I cant believe the democrats May chose him. First he ran a smallish city as mayor. He was in the military but as a ground pounder (low ranking officer) so he followed rules well. 37!!!!! Has a husband. The thought of the two of them dancing at the inaugural balls cannot comfort most Americans and the kiss????? I have a hard time believing that America is that woke.
I want Bernie as the nominee. We keep the senate, presidency and get back the house. Hes the only guarantee for all 3.
I’ve read that Biden had minimal support in the initial alignment in most caucuses. On the realignment, most of the support he had aligned with Bootyjudge, which is how Bootyjudge outperformed his polling.
It wasn’t that Bootyjudge was the voters first choice, it was that he was the least objectionable alternative to Sanders and Warren.
Besides, like the lady discovering he is a homosexual and wanting her vote back, as more Americans learn he is a perverted homosexual, they will sour on him and the chance he might bring that to the White House.
Straight Pete wouldn't have gotten very far either.
Too young, trying too hard to be Mr. Know-it-All, the Boy Wonder.
Reminds me a little of John Edwards, whose problem definitely wasn't homosexuality.
It’s a caucus. Raw votes don’t determine a winner.
Iowa winner for DEMS has always been the SDE winner.
Caucusgoers vote for Bernie delegates or Butty delegates
more Buttie delegates got elected.
Not with 0% of the Black vote.
Thanks
Buttigig lead shrank.
92% of vote
Leads by 19 SDE. 0.9%
Buttigig lead shrank again
96% of vote
Leads by 16 SDE. 0.7%
About 100 SDE remain to be counted
Bernie is gonna get the most votes though right? Even in the “final vote”. Yet somehow still not “win”. They are gonna go ballistic.
Tell me again how this isn’t completely ridiculous.
Pseudo-electoral college within a state. It could work only if it was logically constructed and easy to understand. “State Delegate Equivalents” no!).
Still only have 96% in.
This is delicious though. 538 has Bernie projected with the best chance at the nomination and no majority in second place. Model gives Bloomberg no chance so it is flawed.
The mythical “brokered convention” could actually happen this time and it could tear the rat party apart.
